Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know the noise changes but I'm guessing your making more use of your CAT with the valves open.

Oh - and do people always need to change O2 sensors?

I went for the standard 200 cell cats with their switchable boxes to replace my pse a year or so back.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm about to buy 200CEL top gear cats - but, there are 3 options.
Straigh cats £499
X Cats but same size tubing as above £499
X Cats 63mm £699
I have the gundo hack
I want more noise but no drone
What have people gone for and why? What would you go for
TIA
I went for the standard 200 cell cats with their switchable boxes to replace my pse a year or so back. They are loud!! Not really much drone from them and they scream at high revs, and get some nice popples... I love them, but neighbours aren't so keen
I had the 63mm 200Cell CATs and it was a good choice. With the gundo hack it would sound awesome.
I have just posted a Youtube link in the group buy on start up. On motorways if you just did 70-80 mine would drone a bit but not too much or too intrusive. The way to cure it was to put your foot down !
PS - sensors. Depends if you can get them out but I changed mine as I didn't want to go back to it.
Sorry, it's not a great video, it was taken from my iPhone mounted to the dashboard but it might give you an insight into the sort of tone you might expect with an exhaust configured like mine.
2001 3.4 Carrera 2
Direnza tubular manifolds
Top Gear 200mcell, 63mm x-pipe
Top Gear exhaust boxes (The louder versions)
3.8S air box & Pipercross panel air filter (Resonator deleted)
Unfortunately there wasn't room to redline it which is where it really shines but it should hopefully give a sense of the exhaust 'Tone".

Obviously you might get lucky but if you've got original sensors the chances of getting them out of the cats whole is effectively zero. I removed my cats recently as my manifold-cat bolts were knackered and must have damaged an o2 sensor while trying the get the studs out as it stopped giving a signal.
The thing was properly welded in and needed to be burnt out with oxy acetylene. No chance of reused as if was a puddle of molten metal on the floor.
I'd certainly budget for replacements!
Likewise with mine. Two sensors utterly seized in, two rounded off so much they'll never come out. I think budgeting for 4 new sensors would save a lot of heartache!
I wasn't too worried mind you as mine were starting to throw up error codes so I was consudering replacing them anyway.
I've got Topgear 200cell CATS. See link below to a video I made. Ignore the fluffy bit at the beginning, there's a sound clip later on.

I couldn't get my O2 sensors out, I purchased 4 new Bosch ones for £150 from Autodoc, although they took a week to come.

200 cats
I've got the topgear 200cats and valved mufflers. With valve closed, sound is great, like PSE, with valve open - its like straight through pipe, too loud for me and village. Quality is great, but I will be swapping out mufflers if anyone is interested. here is video so you can hear for yourself
I would have thought most of the noise is the 200 cell cats rather than the muffler/back box? I know the noise changes but I'm guessing your making more use of your CAT with the valves open. Might be worth putting your old CAT back on first.
