I intend to pressurise the system to 20 psi to see if I can spot the source and as it looks like a very awkward job to replace the entire aluminium section, I was considering replacing only the leaking piece with some hose and clips.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i noticed a small deposit on the garage floor at about the position of the front of the gearbox and towards the nearside, seemed to be like a light oil !! I have now put it on stands and I can see a drop of liquid on an aluminium pipe which comes from the top of the coolant header tank and which eventually disappears forwards. Pipe dia. approx 1/2 inch presumably a vent pipe? Can only be a coolant leak but very minor at this stage. No obvious damage to the pipe but it must be pinholed somewhere. I intend to pressurise the system to 20 psi to see if I can spot the source and as it looks like a very awkward job to replace the entire aluminium section, I was considering replacing only the leaking piece with some hose and clips. Has anyone replaced this pipe in situ? Comments welcome!
