Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I can relate to where your coming from regarding the sound, I've previously had the Top Gear sports sound silencers, these replaced the original standard silencers and whilst I was happy to have some much needed sound it wasn't quite the Porsche sound if you will,

Apparently HJS are top end cats and some other companies use cheaper sourced cats that are apparently not as good.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know sound is a very subjective thing but thought it worth an ask. I have a top gear system on my car and I just dont like the sound/tone. Ive tried different tips which did help but still im not happy. Its harsh and raspy and off idle when you blip the throttle it sounds coarse and a bit rough to be honest. Im wanting a deeper tone with a smoother sound. Bmw straight six with stainless exhaust/Audi v8 with stainless. Im not talking about engine note of course, just the exhaust tone. Am I better off with standard boxes with the gundo mod? Or does anyone else have any experience with Dansk, miltek, ipe etc regarding tone. I just want to get something with a deeper smoother tone. Im aware its a very subjective thing but thought I would put it out there.
Of the brands mentioned I reckon Milltek is the closest to the sound type your after but am not 100% certain. IPE tends to go over the top high pitched to my ears, not a deeper tone. Can be hard to get a full picture with videos, hopefully people have some anecdotal insights to share which may help.
Thanks for the advice. I'm not knocking your product in the slightest, quality and fit are superb, it's just the tone I'm struggling to warm to that's all.
I did much the same as you mentioned above. I bought the top gear mild sports and 200cell cats. I gave it a bit of time but I just didn't warm to the sound.
I eventually took the gamble of sending my standard silencers and cats over to Gert at Carnewal, he does some kinda modification to the silencers but I have no idea what but they sound good.
The cats he opens up and removes the internals and replaces them with 200cell HJS units. For me the car sounds spot on now and I've had a few comment saying the same.
Kline system on mine with 200 cel cats has a deep tone to it when compared to the pse I had fitted. Also sounds very smooth. I still prefer the pse though.
Ahh, that's interesting. I have the standard cats and pipe!!! To be honest mine does not really sound like a flat six at idle or lower revs. It might be different with X pipe?
To be honest I can't remember off the top of my head, I do remember the cats were expensive though. Apparently HJS are top end cats and some other companies use cheaper sourced cats that are apparently not as good. Kline use HJS I believe.
Give him a bell and see what the pricing is like it could be worth checking his site. I've never read a bad thing about Kline either. I also would have to agree with that he above aswell, PSE is hard to beat but I think once you start messing with the cats the sound has to alter

I've just come to the end of my exhaust journey, Top Gear manifolds and 63mm 200 cell x-pipe cats with Milltek cup silencers and I'm now very happy :thumb:
Kline I had on my C4s and it sounded amazing, cost amazing as well mind you haha.
If you can try the x-pipe, it made a difference to mine. Im after just a little bit more noise but the K&N intake does help a lot.
