Hi everyone! I recently purchased a
2008 cayman s
and the car has 996 tan seats but the connector or sometiing doesnt work so they wont adjust. The seats are too far back for me to drive comfortably so I want to buy aftermarket racing seats and just upgrade the seats rather than fix. Does anyone know of any tan racing seats (something like recaros) that would fit inside the
cayman
i bought. Thanks for your help!
Is your interior sand beige? These are perfect

A US Recaro dealer that actually has seats in a showroom that you can sit in and can discuss options with you is Stable Energies Motorsports in NJ.
Another option is to buy the (Heated, electric recline) seats from my 06
Boxster S
, then order new leather from Lseat.com. Mine are Sand beige but the car must have spent a lot of time in the sun (without being treated) with previous owners as the leather is cracked and trashed. Cushions are perfectly fine though.
Depending on your location it may be better to get seats from someone a little more local to you. I'm in Kansas City.
Hi - welcome to Planet-9! The Friendly Intelligent

I'd suggest posting a WTB in our classifieds/marketplace area. Be quite specific on what you're looking for, and perhaps where you're located since shipping seats is costly. You will have to qualify to post there, which means you need 10 "significant" posts (ie - no crap like "Nice Car" - posts have to be relevant to the subject being discussed..)
As a start on getting to the 10 post count, I'd suggest visiting

and telling us about you and your car. Photos are strongly encouraged..

I have an 06
Boxster S
with a sand beige interior. I've been on a quest to build a
spyder
homage I call the "poor man's"
boxster spyder
. After driving a 987
boxster spyder
I knew I needed buckets to get to the
next
level, however like you, having a beige interior is a problem when all buckets come in black.
So I rolled the dice and bought a pair of Recaro Pole Position Classic Seats. I then had them re-dyed to match the interior. Dying a black seat beige is not easy. The color is not perfect, but it's close enoguh, at least for now. The saving grace is the rest of the interior has faded over the years so frankly eveyything is a different shade of beige. I also had seat heaters added so I could retain the factory seat heating option.
The biggest issue I encoutered was the size. Pole Positions are offered in 2 widths, FIA, and a larger ABE width. ABE is wider in the hips and that is the only size that the classic series is offered in. This was unfortunatle because I'm a very tiny guy and would prefer to be held a little more snug. The bigger problem though was that the seat hit the center console and wouldn't adjust at all. The only solution was to remove the seat cover and actually thin out the fiberglass where it hits the console. Not ideal, but that part that was the only way to get it in there.
Now I could have boguht beighe leather covers for it but most were either very expensive, or of quesitonable quality and color. Furthermore the lead times were long and I wanted to enjoy the seats this year. I also got estimates from some well respected upholstery shops online and their prices were significant and again nearly a year lead time.
As far as the cost I paid about $2300 for each seat, the seat sliders were $600 and the re-dye job was $700. I also added the seat heaters for $300 and then had a friend spray the seat backs body color for free because he owed me a favor. So all in, my seats cost $6200.
Overall I'm glad I have them. In an ideal world I'd have 997 buckets because they are superior in every way, except for the fact they're more than double the price, and they really don't exist in beige either. My only gripe with them now is really the color match, which I figure I can either have them dyed again in the future, or maybe change out the covers at some point. I will say it takes some getting used to because the seats have far less padding than an OEM seat and it took quite a while mess with the padding to get the seats comfortable.

A couple of comments. I guess you bought the PP Classic seats because the FIA seat didn't come in leather? I have the regular ones and even those were a tight fit against the center console so I am not surprised that you had fitment issues.
Second, you can go after leather with lacquer thinner and remove most of the dye. Here is a link to an article that I did about re-dying the seats on my 928. Color Plus, mentioned in the article, can give you exact matches to any color sample you provide them.

I recently treated myself to a one week “staycation” so I could be at home while my grandchildren visited. This gave me a chance to do some work on the 928 upholstery that would be mad…

Yes got the PP classic because they came with leather and I'm a sucker for pepita. Wish I had known about pre-mixed colors but the shop I used just mixed their own, but frankly I had a hard time finding anyone to undertake the project and I wasn't about to do it myself. Your seats came out wonderful though. I might just get some of the pre mixed color and have the shop take another stab at it in the off season.
Thanks a lot for that! Now considering just getting black recaros and redying.
