I'd recommend him but he doesn't want to be recommended as its a pig of a job on a 996, sorry I think I might have just recommended you!

Or used an OEM bumper with the PDC holes to fit an aftermarket kit?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

PDC was missing from the spec of my car when I got it, pity but not a deal breaker. Anyway got the opportunity to get a well priced bumper set up for PDC, had anyone retro fitted the Porsche system? Or used an OEM bumper with the PDC holes to fit an aftermarket kit?
If not any recommends for an OEM looking kit? I remember seeing some neat colour coded kits but can't remember the website.
Thanks
I bought some from eBay for my everyday Merc. They were £50 or so. The sensors are black, and very discreet and work directly from the reversing lights.
Cheap as chips and a nice little modification. The kit comes with the required drill bit to make the holes. Its a bit nerve racking drilling them, but once you measure, and measure again its quite straightforward.
The alarm module is a litle loud, so I put some electrical tape over it to quieten it down a bit.
I'm not sure whether the require bungs are in the back of the 911 to house the alarm (I've never looked in mine) but without taping over the module, you should be able to hear it from the engine bay.
The sensors are certainly more discreet than the OEM 'warts' I have on the back of my 911 :frustrated:
Interesting, has anyone got the link to the retro fit kit that's been linked on here a few times? The sensors were much more discreet than the OEM kit.
Edit:
Found it

I'm sure I saw a set that fitted behind the bumper so didn't need holes drilled so were completely invisible from outside the car. Apparently they work even though they sense through the bumper.
If I can find a link I'll post it.
Could get an electromagnetic kit PD1, I had them on my old mondeo and they worked just as well as the normal ones and fitted behind the bumper so no holes drilled, I got a couple of old strips if you do go down this route and want to beef up the detection zone by adding another strip. Let me know.
I fit PDC for a living and did mine last weekend there not easy to do. Took me about 3 hours and I'm an expert.
Do not fit and leave the ecu in the engine bay as there not water proof.
I ran the cables in behind the drivers side rear speaker. If you attempt it order a front sensor kit as you will need the extra length cables happy to help you if you want.

Micro system
Had rear PDC fitted today by Y8cel, very pleased, body coloured sensors much neater than the Porsche OEM system, you hardly notice them and they look like modern factory fit ones.
Works perfectly, I can breath easy when my gorgeous wife takes it shopping

Your welcome mate was good to meet you today just a pity about the weather.
Thanks again for the loan of your wheels much appreciated.
And for all those like me who did not like your new wheels the pics do not do them justice in the flesh they look very nice and really suit the car.
