Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2007 ,987 cayman. Rarely when I start car I get a decent size cloud of smoke. But by far most of the time No smoke at all. All fluids are good. Car runs great Does anyone know if this is normal or is something to be concerned about

POST 2Original post

Sounds normal, especially if you make numerous quick trips/stops, you'll be more likely to get the cloud after that. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

POST 3Original post

Based on my research (I have the same symptom): 1. The smoke is due to our infamous AoS starting to fail and/or 2. What CarGuyNeil mentioned (or the car sitting too long) And not something I currently worry about (fingers crossed).

POST 4Original post

Does it smoke at the start randomly or on specific occasions like every morning?

POST 6Original post

Pretty much normal in a "flat" engine. At times the rings on a piston will have the gaps all line up, and it that cylinder is on an intake stroke when you shut it down, with the rings aligned - you'll suck some oil into the cylinder, the result being smoke. BMW boxer-twins do the same thing. As long as it remains a rare thing, and oil consumption is reasonable (or nil) - I'd forgeddaboutit..
