I wouldn�t recommend installing those inserts without having a fresh bushing, but I only say this because I don�t know what would happen if you were to install them on a torn bushing.

Hi - I know w number of you have tried the Function First or other brand of urethane press in transmission mounts. Does anyone have a set they would like to get rid of or sell for cheap? I'd like to try some but would love to get a couple different durometers to see the difference. (and yes, I checked the Classifieds first - none listed). Thanks

Have you recently replaced your transmission mount bushing? If not, I�d recommend you check to see if it�s torn. However, checking the transmission mount bushing would require you to support the transmission and remove the mounting brackets. If you have to pay someone to do this, then I can understand not wanting to check. The thing is, 996 transmission mount bushings are near impossible to find. I wouldn�t recommend installing those inserts without having a fresh bushing, but I only say this because I don�t know what would happen if you were to install them on a torn bushing. Maybe there�s a detrimental effect on NVH & shifting, maybe there isn�t� 997 transmission mount bushings, on the other hand, are plentiful and will fit our 996 transmissions. If you want to install a fresh bushing, but cannot find the 996-type, you can go for the 997-type and purchase their corresponding inserts from Function First.
