Gang,
I wanted to ask a question is anyone knew how to get this site more exposure on Google? I ask because other portals I run get crawled by Google completely and for some reason this site only had 1 or 2 pages crawled the last time I checked Google and even doing obvious searches like 'Porsche Cayman Club' the site is way way way down the list.
I have meta tags set up with the appropriate info, although meta tags are only one element that is looked up. Something seems to be wrong/funky so as to keep Google from reading all pages and then assessing the site accordingly. Can anyone help?
I think it will come with a little more time. I'm not completely sure what all the devices are that google uses, and it seems to be a moving target.
Recently google has been in trouble for some porn coming up with search words like porsche and they are working to correct that.
As of today - I did a search on "Porsche 356" and got a image at the top (right in the google results page - not just a link) that you would not want your kids to see.
But if you are a bit older and it is still up, you can check it out for a porsche 356 related thrill.
The term 'Porsche Cayman' is mentioned once on your homepage, excluding META data(which is useless anyway). You have way way too much javascript & DHTML code at the top of your source. Maybe googles robots got bored of crawling through it all?
You need to get people linking to you using the wordstargetted search termsand your ranking will improve. Other things that will help include the use of ALT tag text which google will read, even TITLE attributes for text links.For example, the image of the track testing on the homepage has no ALT text, you should be using things like alt='Porsche Cayman S - Track Testing Pictures'.
The main site naviagation, the words Porsche or Cayman are hardly used. Also, bear in mind the word Cayman on it's own up until recently would be used by people looking for information on the reptiles, or the Islands.
If you're really desperate to get some more SE traffic then you could do also create somedoorway pages.

Googlebot views a page as much like a human as possible, and determines a page ranking. If the homepage of your website contains 'Porsche' and 'Cayman' lots of times within meaningful sentences, the ranking will go up. If this is done within the first few hundred words, all the better. If your URL is porsche.something, you have a running start...
Links *in* count for a lot. If other meaningful sites link to caymanclub, it will start to look more interesting to the bot, and your ranking will go up. By meaningful I mean within proper sentences - the chaps at google aren't stupid!
Also bear in mind the ranking isn't calculated daily, it's more like a several week cycle.
This is from somebody who runs a website ranked at #1 on Google for over 3 years. We have no ALT/TITLE tag or doorway page tricks, just a niche that people seem to like and link to quite often. I think that is the key - the links into the site. I won't mention the site here as its not really relevant (PM me if you like K-Man)
You can use tools online to see how popular your site is - I call this an 'ego search'. For example, google thinks about 5 to 10 pages
currently link
to planet-9.com. The site I run has 23,700 so far but don't be disheartened, it was at #1 well before that figure (probably at just a few hundred), as there wasn't anything similar. I would suggest caymanclub holds a similar niche!
Finally, it wouldn't hurt to try to sneak a mention into the influential blogs, by submitting a story to them - e.g. autoblog.com etc. Journalists are lazy, and will publish any old tripe if the work is already done for them with a few sentences (include a picture) For example 'to mark the launch of the Cayman and their 1000th forum member..' or 'the largest collection of Porsche Cayman links is available at the #1 Cayman resource..' or 'non-official Cayman database available at'. You know, that kind of stuff. Often people will pick up on an interesting story and blog about it themselves - increasing the links into your site.
I did a bit of the goggle thing and you do have a problem. I think you should do more meta tags and make sure what ever is pulling your pages (asp?) is doing it in a way that google sees.
As a suggestion tag keywords could be: Porsche, Cayman, forum, community, review, news, 911, buy, sell, club, cayman club, caymanclub - and other such keywords that might get searched in combination.
I know this approach can work... if you search "sculpture community" then sculpture.net-sculpture community (which I started) comes up #1, with my meta tag info listed as the description.
I'll have to post my current meta tags here for suggestions then.
Oh and keep the suggestions coming, but does anyone have any TIME on their hands to help me out with this? My TIME is VERY constrained right now with work, travel, kid, etc.
Ok here are my meta tags, these should appear on EVERY page in this site
<META HTTP-EQUIV='Content-Type' CONTENT='text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1'>
<META HTTP-EQUIV='EXPIRES' CONTENT='0'>
<META HTTP-EQUIV='imagetoolbar' CONTENT='no'>

Is something wrong with them? Should I change/edit/delete something?
