Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect a car seat (porsche or otherwise) would be fine but as you can gather, I no longer need them!!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at purchase of 996 cab, in lieu of current bmw 5 series. Whilst 90+% of motoring miles (15-18k pa) is just me, and we have a galaxy for week-ends/full family outings so that not a problem, but with a young children will still need to be able to do short trips with kids, drop at school etc.
Is this a practical proposal with 996 cab, and what is situation with child seats for rear?
Any feedback appreciated
cheers
Welcome to the forum. Couldn't fault the choice of car (obviously) but I'd take your children down to see the car and any child seats you might wish to fit post-purchase. The Cabriolet back rests of the rear seats are vertical if not actually sloping forward and are different from the Coupe/Targa.

I've got a 16 year old, a 14 year old and a 12 year old and the school run is no problem whatsoever. I suspect a car seat (porsche or otherwise) would be fine but as you can gather, I no longer need them!!
There are plenty of thoughts on squeezing child seats into the back of a 911, aired in these pages and elsewhere.
I settled for a Porsche "Kid plus" seat, which (as you'd expect) fits very well. I paid Mid-Sussex Porsche a little less than expected for it and they delivered it free too!
The seat is designed for (theoretically) ages 4-11 or 12, since the seat base can be detached and used as a booster cushion. The incumbent was a little under 3 1/2 years old when the seat was delivered and he's a slimly-built chap of probably average height or less. The good news is that he fitted into the seat very nicely, so don't be put off by the 4+ designation if that's an issue.
Anyhoo, HTH. Good luck with the decision - we're all rooting for you

Did a lot of research on this subject a couple of months ago when I was purchasing a 996 C4cab. After a lot of internet reading & visiting Mothercare Halfords etc I settled on a £80 'Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR" from Mothercare (good score in WHICH) for my 3 ½ year old & a plastic booster seat also from Mothercare for my 7 year old.
Didn't have to remove bottom part of car seat (on velcro). To give a slight incline on child seat I placed a small rolled up towel behind child seat base due to rear seats being vertical.
As for travelling my 3 ½ has no problem sleeping in his car seat on long journeys & also the 2 miles from nursery.
I have a Lexus RX when we need more space ie the big shop, holidays etc but as stated we use the Porsche every day for school runs 2 kids in back & 2 adults up front.
Not sure about pushchairs fitting in car.
Hope this helps

The wind deflector on the cab makes a huge difference to comfort with the hood down - wouldn't be without mine.
Clearly can't be in place with the kids in the back, so it's another thing to store either in the boot taking up space or garage I guess.
