Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

The system is a bit loud between 2250 and 3750 rpm, which as you can guess is between 50 -60mph, but over that no more noise than the original system from inside the car, (And I've got a Cabrio),

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interested to know if anyone here is running Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes & decat pipes. Do you have any issues with the :cop: ? Any problems with track days? I've fitted mine today, and they sound crazy & very loud, really not sure not driven with them yet. any feedback would be great!

POST 2Original post

Hope you don't mind a 964 interloper !! I fitted a full Fabspeed system, including heat exchangers, just over a year ago with the dual outlet option for a 964, This did away with the secondary muffler and the cat, so I now have one muffler and two outlet exhausts. The sound is great, The system is a bit loud between 2250 and 3750 rpm, which as you can guess is between 50 -60mph, but over that no more noise than the original system from inside the car, (And I've got a Cabrio), Personally, I've only been to the 'Ring, no other track days and I had no problems getting through the barrier there, I wasn't pulled for a sound check or anything. HTH, but as I said at the beginning, the above comments relate to a full Fabspeed system on a 964.

POST 3Original post

I think they are a tad too loud for my liking but then you may like them. I would say most track days will be a no - go with them especially Castle Combe & Donnington... even a Toyota Prius seems too loud for them lately!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the replies so far  Update so far: I've driven the car on fabspeed cat bypass pipes without the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes installed and as you can imagine it sounded way way too loud it was totally unsilenced. The reason I did'nt fit the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes is I didnt have the clamps and to be honest I did'nt think it would make much difference as ther're only a small bit of pipe with no silencer. Noise aside, engine response was alot better and alot more revvey, the weight difference between standard and fabspeed was also quite impressive. So looking at my options now: 1. Fit the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes - hope this quietens the car alot, although can't see it will help? - any point!? 2. Fit the standard cats back on and go with the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes, as long as the standard cats do some silencing this may be a decent compromise noise wise, if the cats dont silence much then I think I'll have to stick the fabspeed system on ebay. 3. Keep the fabspeed cat bypass pipes but stick the standard silencers back on, not sure if this would be the best compromise performance wise. Gratefull for your thoughts or advice! Ideally need abit more noise than standard system (although my standard system is like the Oettle) without attracting the police / upsetted too many neigbours. brumbrum
