I will try to keep this vaguely up-to-date over time - it will also be interesting to see how it changes over the coming months...

And using these "stats" it's fairly straightforward to determine whether, based on age, mileage and private/trade each car is, in theory, a bargain or expensive.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, first post here (edit: for a few years) so bit of a newbie! (Not sure if this image posting will work properly - if not please feel free to help sort me out! ) I am thinking, perhaps, maybe, at some point, in the not too distant future... etc. etc. to finally jump in and treat myself to a 996TT. I started off looking at 996s (C2/C4) back in 2006/7 but bought a new house instead which scuppered that one (not sure which would have been the worse investment, with hindsight ) Things have moved on and, if the job carries on looking secure I might contemplate jumping in with both feet and going for a turbo. So, in preparation for this I've started doing my research early. Reading up here, PH, PCGB etc. I've also been looking over autotrader to see what the current market pricing seems to be. Now, being a bit of a geek I couldn't help myself doing a bit of (most likely to be somewhat dodgy) statistical analysis. Based on a selection of autotrader prices and specs (starting at the lowest-priced and going up until I got bored) and ignoring any Cat C/D cars, my "analysis" determined that: For the car being one year older you'd expect to pay £1,276 less (double this for 2 years older etc.) For each extra 10k miles you'd expect to pay £765 less For a private sale you'd expect to pay £991 less (although this is not a strong relationship, surprisingly) And using these "stats" it's fairly straightforward to determine whether, based on age, mileage and private/trade each car is, in theory, a bargain or expensive. The illustration attached, for example, shows how much of a discount or premium to the "theoretical" price each of the cars I studied is... Not sure if this is REMOTELY interesting to anyone else, but I found it quite intriguing. Not sure how these market-based stats compare with, for example, Parkers or any other guide. I will try to keep this vaguely up-to-date over time - it will also be interesting to see how it changes over the coming months...

masopa, that's pretty good, makes sense :thumb: I wonder what effect tip v manual and specific options have, if any
