Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

18's or 19's have the same diameter with the tyres on, so both fill the wheel arch the same.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok,
Now that many of us have seen the car in the flesh, in the UK at launhes and in the US behind the scenes, can we get a conclusion about wheel choices?
I realise everyone will have their own opinions but I would love to hear from peole who have seen different wheels on the car.
I've got
Carrera
S wheels on order, Haven't seen them ON A
CAYMAN
yet.
SportDesigns look good in person on the
cayman
, I like the 18''s but I don't love them,they are a little small for me.
Anyone?
Colm
Just my opinion, but all the US dealer demo cars have the
Carrera
S wheels and they of course don't look bad at all. The
Cayman S
wheels though, at least to me, look fantastic. The spokes on those wheels are (in person) very arched....similarly to the
Carrera
GT type wheels. The
Carrera
S wheels look more flat and again to me, less dynamic than the
Cayman S
wheels. I ordered a White car so I'm going to have my
Cayman
Wheels painted guards red to match the design scheme of a GT3RS. I'm also getting Carbon Mirrors from Cargraphic to put on the car.
Put it this way, if you want the
Carrera
S wheels you won't be unhappy with them. They of course look good.
<div>Saw the
Cayman
at the
launch
event last night and have to say the standard wheels look much better in the flesh. I was gonna go for the 19’s but no need, the 18’s look really good on the car. Look pretty crap in the photos, but close up I prefer the normal wheels. Anyone not sure about wheel choice needs to see the car in the flesh. Trust me</div>
Obvious this is all a matter of personal preference, but to my eye the
Carrera
S wheels look cluttered, massive & a hodgepodge of disjointed shapes which badly clash w/the smooth, flowing lines of the
Cayman
. From photos, I much prefer the standard 18s or, having now seen them in person, the
Carrera
Classic 19s (which looked great on a black
Cayman
).
Sport Design by a mile, then Classic. The 18's just look 'ok' in the flesh as the arches are really vast and running standard stock suspension really emphasis this.
Dean
It looks to me like the
Carrera
S are prefered this side of the pond (yes I've gone for those) and pretty much everything else on the US side.
At the
launch
my wife commented that she really liked the SD wheels. Me too. But having M V-Spokes on my
BMW
has put me off that style for life! As I pointed out to her, she isn't the one who has to spend 2 hours a week on her hands and knees, toothbrush in hand, followed by a further hour trying to get all the black S**t off her hands!

Yes, the classics IMO are Porsche's finest, especially since it follows the corves of the car. Me, I'm planning for 18', then designing new rims (if exclusive allows for budget, if not, metal shop) If it doesn't go in budget, aftermarket lightweight multi-spoke rims would be alternative.

From day one I went for the Sport Designs - I think they look fantastic on the car in the brochures. I really dont like the
Carrera
S wheels - those square cutouts on the spokes seam completely out of place on such a curvaceous car.
Having seen the
Caymans
last night at the
launch
, shod with standard alloys and SD's - I think both look great, but the 18''s look a touch lost in the wheelarches.
Interestingly, they had a C4S with
Carrera Classics
, and I got looking at the rear wheel and it looks amazing - but its 10.5J (or maybe 11J) so the spokes curve into the hub giving it a much deeper look. Unfortunately the Classics on a
Cayman
would be 9.5J and the spokes run much flatter to the hub. I'll stick with the SD's.

I'm going for standard 18in on standard suspension for the handling and ride balance. I'm happy with the looks of the standard wheels, too, but agree that for looks alone the SD 19in win. I wouldn't want to clean them in a Briish winter, though!
I'm still trying to decide and have to do it quick because I am going to place my order today. Right now I am going with the Classics. They look good in th photos, although I have to say the
Carrera
S wheels looked good in person. I am going with a black car do I'll have enough fun cleaning the car so I'll pass on the
Carrera
wheels. I like the way the 19's fill the space, even though the overall diameters of 18' and 19' are the same. Seems to add a little more meat to catch the eye and contrast with the body of the car. Decisions decisons.............
I won't be seeing the real thing for at least another couple of months, but I am convinced that the standard one will look pretty good. But as to which is the best wheels, have you guys looked at the Techart one on the other thread? Have always loved that wheel for the
Boxster
, on the
Cayman
it looks even better! I may get those for the road and keep the standard 18's for track use with R compound tyres.
This might help ! Having expressed my certainty about the SD'sin the earlier post , and liking the Classics at the
launch
last night, I've just been back to the dealers to look at Classics on the
Boxster
.
Guess what !?! The order has been changed to Classics now ! Porsches should always have 5 spokes !!!

As I said before I love both, but now I am seeing something different. I think the SD and the classics each have their place. I think some colors, such as silver do look better with SD's. But brighter darkercolors seem to look better to me with Classics. Good thing we areall different!

I think the SD's go perfectly with the thin blades of the
Cayman
's side intakes! 5-spokes are classic
Porsche
, hard to argue, they look great. The square cut-outs on the S don't match thecurves.
