Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

If you have an older high mileage 987 check the body plugs that run the length of the car under the sides. The undercoating had come off and they were dry-rotted on mine. This allows water and salt to get inside. I purchased 10 of these 9693 Heyco | Mouser and reapplied spray undercoating. I like these plugs better than the OEM.

POST 2Original post

I found the same problem on my 2008 CS, but not from high mileage, just age. These plugs weren't listed anywhere I could find, not even on the dealer's computer. Anyway I eventually tracked down OEM replacements as shown in the attached. Installation was quick and easy w/o any special tools required. One note, the front-most plug on each side is different; apparently part of a drain system. I did find them listed, but mine were still in good shape so I didn't replace them.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the tips, guys - this is good info!

POST 6Original post

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to add some more info to it. The plugs I pulled off of my car were labeled N10226701.

POST 7Original post

Duplicating the "old thread" comment, what's the down side of not replacing them in a Florida environment (no road salt to worry about and I suspect water gets inside regardless)?

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
