Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was reading the Autocar from this week I think it is.... The one with the buying guide for decent cars cheaper than you think and they feature a carrera 2 in there and quote the car as doing 0-60 in 4.7 and 177mph !!! Does this seem a bit too quick or is it right ? the reason for my thinking is that the carrera 4s is down at 5.2 to 60 and 175 (ish) Understand the 4wd system will make a difference with weight and whatnot but I did't think it would be nealry 1/2 a sec to 60 !!! thats quite impressive I thought. Orrrrr, have I just made the above C4s figure up and i'm well out ??? The reason for my thinking here is a nice C4s is going to be cheaper than a 996tt and lets be honest, looks the same !!! but if its doing 0-60 in 5.2 and my Megane 225 F1 is doing it in just over 5.5 ( remapped to 260bhp )it wouldn't be worth shelling out all that money to not go much quicker.... OK the driving experience will be a millions miles different but I don't want someone to buy my Megane lets say and then be bullying me round a track !!! Hope your all OK Cheers Lee

POST 2Original post

I wish more like 0-60 in5.8/6.0 secs and Porsche quoted top speed 174mph TB

POST 3Original post

OP - That is correct. Autocar got 4.7 seconds out of an MkI C2. The 3.4 engines are pretty efficient you know! tbrown - If you are only getting 5.8 - 6.0secs out of your car then I suggest you reset your engine management..!

POST 4Original post

I think I remember it being 0-60 in 5.1 for my C2 Cab 3.6 with a top speed of 179 :?:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

4.7 is a very respectable effort !!! Top end seems like a nice high figure too !!! for track purpose of course....

POST 6Original post

It's going in for a service soon, so will get them to give it a tweek

POST 7Original post

Ah, it'll come out alot quicker out of the service. :thumb:

POST 8Original post

Hi RS A well driven R26 will mullah a lot of more expensive sports cars on track. At the Ring there were many R26R's demolishing 911's, the 911 is a more difficult car to drive for sure but the rewards will be higher as an experience. :thumb:

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Mate, Indeed a well driven Megane will, a couple of chaps I work with went in their tt's and both could no tbelieve the pace of them !!! I may even keep mine and get the tt as a "second" car if the leg iron will approve !!! :?: Like you say though it would be much more rewarding once mastered !!!

POST 10Original post

This is from the 99 Service Information Technik, and I would think is a lot more accurate than any other quoted figures:

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting, thanks Richard.... Didn't realise the Tiptronics where so much slower !!!

POST 12Original post

They're not on the 997 TT (although it is only marginally faster  ) 8)

POST 13Original post

0-100kph.......6secs 100kph = 62mph therefore 0-60mph.......60/62=0.96x6=5.8secs so I don't think I'll be coming out of the service any faster :nooo: TB

POST 14Original post

All very impressive figures, but lets not forget how magazines come by these. :nooo: No one in their right mind is going to subject their pride and joy to the sort of punnishment required to ellicit those times, are they?, :blue-no: unless transmission and clutch changes are your speciality. :dont know: In real world driving my money would be on the Porsche to leave most cars adrift from any lights. By the way why is a Porsche mentioned in the same breath as a, what was it again, Megane? :floor: :floor: Dare I say the tiptronic IMHO would also be faster 9 times out of 10 as you dont need to get the clutch/ gas sorted. (nice when you do, embarrasing when you stall) Just floor it and let it do its thing.

POST 15Original post

Note the passing ability figures. And I agree with TB - in the real world, the Tip will do 0-60 times consistently close to the official figures driven by a mere mortal and not Walter Rohrl.
