Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have aquired today 2003 996 s4 46k rattles a bit from tranmission area when swiched off, only when clutch is held down its not apparent...Normal?? creaks from lower n/s suspension also, help appreciated Thanks, david Norfolk

POST 2Original post

Welcome to the mad-house (and possibly the obsession... :thumb: ) A short rattle is quite normal on switch off - mine did it for most of the 4 years and 65,000 miles I had it! As for the suspension, the bushes in a 996 appear to be made of cheese... Albeit, quite hard cheese! You can either live with the noise and rattles or get them changed. Worth checking the anti-roll bar drop links though... one of mine failed and that fixed the knock for quite some time.
