I had the control arms themselves replaced - not the bushes within.

Thnx for that Ben, did you replace the whole unit or thr bush's within it?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
Just got a '98 c2 and love it, it has however developed a squeak in the front left corner suspension...
Any clues on sorting this? What does it mean in the great scheme?
Any advice or suggestions greatly appreaciated.
Cheers!
Try a decent squirt of WD40 around all the suspension linkage points. If that cures the noise its not a big deal.
If not then its an isolation process.

Exactly the same as mine - more of a creak than a squeak!! Mine happens when I lean on the front passenger side wing and it creaks under braking at low speeds. WD40'd the top spring but on closer listening I think it's the lower suspension - haven'd had a chance to get in with the WD40 but will at the weekend.
I've not managed to diagnose mine properly by pushing on the wing for fear of denting it!
I'll have a good squirt with wd40 and see what happens- I'll mention top mounts and control arm bushes to my indy next time I'm passing.
My C4 suffered low speed creaking/squeaking from the front end - especially noticeable when pulling away or coming to a stop. Had both front control arms replaced which solved the problem.
Ben
cheeky_gemeni,
I had the control arms themselves replaced - not the bushes within. I'm not sure that's an option (although I have heard on here of re-conditioning I think?). Unfortunately not the cheapest job as the units themselves are about £220 each.
Cheers,
Ben
