Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran cables from a running car too the fuse and that’ll only pop the hood… you’ll still need to jump start the battery….

The one time this happen to me, I started my Mercedes, ran cables from that to the fuse pullout and grounded it on the door hook and it popped the hood… then jump the car etc

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone know why the fuse block jump won’t work? It worked the first time battery problem occurred a while ago, but i can‘t get it to work now. Can you put the battery maintainer on that spot to charge the battery? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I had no luck with a charger on the fuse box. I ran cables from a running car too the fuse and that’ll only pop the hood… you’ll still need to jump start the battery…. Please buy a Ctek.. go-on!!

POST 3Original post

I’ll have to keep it on the Ctek. I did finally get the fuse box to work after cycling the jump box to get enough juice to open the frunk. Thanks for the reply.

POST 4Original post

This gets asked way too often - someone want to do a FAQ for accessing the battery on a 987 when the battery has died? Most jump boxes will not put out volts until they see volts. That's to keep dolts from turning the thing on and then sparking the two ends together to make sure there is "juice".. and when the battery goes dead enough - there is no voltage on the fuse panel jump point, so the jump box never turns on. It's in your owner's manual. What will work there is hooking up a charged battery to the fusebox jump point - which is why I keep an old motorcycle battery on a trickle/smart-charger 24/7 in my garage. It works just great for this purpose and it's light enough to move next to the car without straining my already bad back.

POST 6Original post

And many modern battery chargers/maintainers work the same way. So once your starter battery goes too low, it won't help leaving it connected to the charger overnight. And even if using a donner battery is successful, you probably should plan on getting a new battery soon.

POST 8Original post

Inside safe storage = one click left ajar on the bonnet. As for Ctek? I pocketed the savings and bought this, it's a great unit, does AGM and lithium too.

POST 9Original post

Those are cool. I only paid 70.00 for the Ctek..

POST 10Original post

That's a good deal! My Schumaker is from the 944 ! More than 35 years old, it only recently started showing symptoms of old age.

POST 11Original post

Nothing lasts although that’s some good years outta that

POST 12Original post

To open the frunk with a complete dead battery, just connect a 12V source (external) into the cigarette lighter outlet..
