So Mahle, K&N, and Bosch makes them. Mobile 1, I believe, rebadges their stuff.
I figured I might do an oil change this weekend, but I am not going to my local dealer. What are your thoughts on non-OEM cartridges from those four companies? Mobile 1, K&N, and Bosch versions are almost at every Autozone, Pepboys, and etc.

Yeah I saw that thread. It does not answer my question. Mann, Mahle, and so on... fine. But I want to know if anyone tried other brands.

site, bit I choose not to mention the brand of my little car, since that causes way to much attention. So I have to ask here.
Hi Apollo,
Just pickup up an OEM filter and crush washer from the dealer or Suncoast and bring it with you to the oil change place. The car is new and under warranty, so why bother taking a chance with a non-OEM filter, the price difference isn't that great.
The labor at the dealer is what gets you.
Hope all is well!
I may be wrong-I have been in the past and will be in the future-but it seems to me that now is the time to support your preferred dealership. Where would you take your car for a warranty claim if it was no longer in business? Sure the labor rates are high, but now is the time to spend a little money at these places. The service manager will not forget that you serviced your car when they needed the business.
While in Advance auto today I looked at a Purolator filter for the Cayman. It's not marked Purolator anywhere (except the box, which is stamped "made in Germany"). The filter is marked "made in Germany" also, and is either a Mahle or Mann by the looks of it.
Also, while I was standing there I check the filter for my E430. It was "Made in India" and was definitely not a fleece German filter...
I'll probably stick with OEM, but I'm glad I found a source...
Here's another link to an oil filter review, it seems pretty thorough.

I simply don't like my local dealers. Herb Chambers runs a network of slimeball-centrals and Ira is no different. Plus, I am not seeing any dealerships really supporting PCA here. Boy do I miss Porsche Exchange in Chicago. Those guys were awesome, no wonder they always has real top accolades.
BTW, looking at different filters for Cayman, they all look like they were made by a single company. Construction, markings, materials... all of them the same.
Apollo, Ray Catena Porsche is one of the biggest supporters of my PCA local region-NNJR. They were the major sponsor of this year's Porscherama. They have one of the best service facilities on the east coast. I could be changing my own oil, but I am taking my car to them next week and paying what it costs. They can use the business and this is my way of helping to support them through this tough time. Slimeball dealerships will sink, but the good ones deserve whatever we can do to help.
... now why would i drive to NJ to get an oil change? :taunt:
One huge disappointment I have with MA and Boston area is that every dealer I had "pleasure" visiting so far makes me not want to come back again.
