If you decide to go to an independent mechanic and your car is still under warranty make sure they can do warranty work approved and paid for by Porsche, have the proper equipment to check for any Porsche updates and have the latest PIWIS.

Now that I have had some help with the synthetic question I thought I would ask if anyone has a VERY trustworthy mechanic for all factory service work in the Seattle area. I am not sure if the dealer is the right way to go because I spoke to a guy locally who said the parts mark up from the dealer was substantial. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Don't ever buy parts from Barrier Porsche (the local dealer). Their markups are just insane. You can find better prices on just about everything from Suncoast (in Florida) or Sunset (in Oregon), even after factoring in shipping costs.

I'm sure there are a number of excellent Porsche shops in Seattle and on the Eastside. However, I would like to recommend MaxRPM in Bremerton. They do specialize in performance work (they installed a TPC turbo system on my CS) but they can do anything, they stand firmly behind their work, and their labor rates are considerably lower than Barrier's. I also had them do some performance upgrades to our Mini Cooper.
