Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When the battery is flat and you then obviously need to get into the bonnet to access the battery, how do you do it as I want to recharge the battery. Thanks for any help. Phil Taylor

POST 2Original post

Detail on year and model would be helpful! Guess your not asking about your Kia!

POST 3Original post

Phil, that happened to me after I left my 996 in the garage for a few weeks without hooking up the battery to my trickle charger. I have a trickle charger called a Battery Tender. It comes with an adapter which I can plug into the cigarette lighter on the dash of the Porsche. I just used that port to charge the battery. I don't remember how long it took, but within a couple of minutes I was able to open the front baggage area. Now, I usually keep the battery charged with just using the "cigarette lighter" port. Hope this helps. Komac

POST 4Original post

There is an emergency release cable that runs from the trunk release towards/under the right front wing. Sometimes you can just pop out the side marker light and see it/fish it out with a bent wire. If not then you will have to take the tyre off and remove the wing liner to access the cable. Depending on year there is also a red slide out terminal in the fuse box in the left foot well. Pull that out and hook an auxiliary power supply positive lead there, use the chrome door latch as ground. Then you can open the boot or engine cover with the switch. DO NOT try to jump start the car from this terminal!
