I just installed the CC retrofit kit on my
2006 Cayman S
. When I try to operate the stalk nothing happens.
Troubleshooting so far:
Wire from CC to wiper stalk is connected
With Durametric Pro: Cruise control is activated under Engine module, instrument cluster and Gateway
Green light in dash briefly lights up when starting the car
Input signals from DME: Cruise-control readiness status on.
This indicates that clutch or brake switch is not activated?
With Durametric I have these input signals:
Cruise-control - store/accelerate "Not actuated"
Cruise-control decelerate/resume status "Not actuated"
Should I see any input her when using the stalk?
Is there a separate fuse for the cruise control?
I see there are some cases where the stalk itself has worn out, but this seems very unlikely for a new unit. Is there any way to test the stalk?
This is really frustrating me, since this is the first "big" job I have on my car :wall:
I do get a fault code from the Steering Column Electronics:
80FF - Coding, implausible signal
This fault comes back as long as the cruise contral stalk is connected. Could this indicate a fault with the new stalk?
Sounds more like coding than a faulty stalk.
Does the green cruise icon light up on the dash when you press the button on the end of the stalk?
Nothing happens when I press the button. Only when I start the car do I briefly see the green icon light up.
What exactly do you mean by a coding issue?
Has anybody succesfully used Durametric to retrofit cruise control?
Did you find out what the fault was?
I am having exactly the same problem.
I have fitted a second hand cruise stalk, The local specialist tried to activate it with their Durametric but nothing happens other than as you have described above.
Sorry just checked and the cruise light does not come on when switching the ignition on.
Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead but did anyone find solutions to their issues?
thanks
In case anyone else finds this thread the issue is that it needs coding in 4 places
Engine module, instrument cluster and Gateway as mentioned above (note the messages in durmetric on the start coding page for the modules carefully - one of these needs an ECU Reset command to be run afterwards)
The bit that wasn't done above was coding in the steering column module, which unfortunately a durametric pro cannot do on a 987 you need someone with PIWIS.
Until the steering column module is coded the green light will come on if you turn of the ignition without starting the engine, you will have a coding fault on the steering column module if you read the fault codes with a duramteric, and the cruise stalk won't do anything.
