Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, I just picked up my silver 03 C2 two saturdays ago. This is an awesome car! I will have to post updated pics later. Since I did the pic for the avatar I have gotten new rims/tires, 8 " DD sub, custom box, 750 watt amp and tinted windows. Looks totally different and awesome!
I had a couple of questions for the forum.
Does it take a little effort to start the car normally? I am use to an S2000 starting up right away. What I mean by that is I can count to 2 before it starts and sometimes it turns but doesn't start. Very rarely though and seems to happen when the car has been driven for more than 30 minutes or so but doesn't happen that often
I am going to post a movie file of me starting it to see if this is normal also.
Congrats on your new car, and welcome. I do not notice any more effort to start my p-car than any of my others, post a clip, I am sure someone can help, but I suggest posting some pics first before the pic police get to you...
Welcome atx.911!
You'll learn tons here. Beware, get some pics up before you get not so gently reminded
As far as your starting question. There was a thread on that as recently as yesterday. If you have trouble finding it, I'm sure someone will help.
look forward to your opinions and input!!
+1, maybe the computer isnt initiating the fuel pump to pressure up when the key is to the "on" position. Wouldnt think weak spark since there is 6 coil packs.
Possible vacuum leak. I found a lot of bolts on my intake more loose than I liked and the hose clamps the same way before.
could be the battery. I had to replace it in my '03 last summer. Even now, it takes a split second longer to start after it's been sittting for a few days and the charge is down a bit. Easy enough to get it tested.
My 944s took forever to catch, that was a "feature" of all 944s. My C2 starts with a roar very quickly. How does the car run and drive after it starts?
I found those threads too but wasn't sure if I was having the exact same problem. It runs and drives perfectly fine after startup.
This clip here I found on youtube of a cabrio. This is exactly what it takes to startup, maybe a split second longer.
Some1 else's 911
I just got the rims put on today, pics up today or tomorrow. Sorry I don't have the stripper on the car pictures yet
Ive found that the starting on the 996 is different than other cars I have driven. It seems more mechanical, like you are initiating the start and the fuel and spark firing. Opposed to some newer cars where the feel is more electronic like simply turn the key and let go instantly, and the computer does the work. The clip seems very normal
That clip is normal. The "split second" delay in statring the engine gives the "engine dwarf" a change to squirt oil from his squirt gun on the soon-to-be-moving parts. This helps reduce engine wear on start-up. Those Germans think of everything!
Phil, please clarify your statement for me, if you will. Is the dim memory a result of A) not having started the car for a while, B) you're so f#^%ing old you can't remember exactly when you last started the car, or C) all of the above? Inquiring minds want to know!
Mark - you can actually post the pics in the thread rather than likn to another site. I have posted one of your pics below, because I thought it was very unique. Nice looking 996!
Here are my "can't miss" instructions for posting a pic. These instructions have NEVER failed to help someone post pics, so the pressure is on YOU to keep my string alive!

Thx Gota, that's what I tried to do first but the size limit restrictions is what kept me from posting the pics, I will try to resize them. Everything is big in Tx!
