Nice work - I've replaced my condensers and drier, but since found out there's a leak in the low pressure pipe as well.

I have just replaced both condensers, radiators, dryer, o-rings and the front to rear low pressure pipe as it was crushed by the jack point.

I used a dremel to make a small slot at the joint, only trying to remove material on the broken pipe.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My aircon didn't work great when I got the car last year, a can of DIY gas kept it going last summer until a condenser failed. I have just replaced both condensers, radiators, dryer, o-rings and the front to rear low pressure pipe as it was crushed by the jack point. Had the system pressure tested and re-gassed today by acwizard.co.uk. I couldn't be happier with the service and advice.... whole process took 1.5 hours including a 30 min leak down test. If you need ac service in Central Scotland area brilliant service. I'm glad I went through the system front to back. Most challenging bit was the joint in pipe near N/S rear wheel. Bolt was totally seized and had to be cut off. Routing the pioe up through front wheel arch was very challenging too, had to remove carbon canister and the relief valve around the fuel filler. A rewarding project for sure.

POST 3Original post

Top job, I had exactly the same issue with that joint on my C2 Since I did it a few years ago it has been ice cold. MC

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Dremel did not do the job (after giving up with drill). Full size angle grinder upside down lying on drive with the knowledge one slip and damaging the pipe that goes to the engine would mean no AC ever again for this car Dis similar metal corrosion is such a pain.

POST 5Original post

Nice work - I've replaced my condensers and drier, but since found out there's a leak in the low pressure pipe as well. I'm hoping I don't have to cut my bolt out but it's looking likely that I will given all the stories... Quick question - did you get the replacement bolt through Porsche and how much was it?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm all in for Porsche parts but I drew line at £12 for a bolt. I used a stainless M10 i had.

POST 7Original post

looks like hell of a job, my pipe is leaking at the joint near the passenger door. I've decided i can drive with open windows, for now...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The pipe itself was £200, any garage I take it to will be warned about how close it is to the jack point.

POST 9Original post

This is exactly why I asked! I'll get hold of an M10, then!

POST 10Original post

Once you had the bolt head off what technique did you use to separate the pipes? I'm at the stage in the attached photo (bolt head and washer removed) and can't get the pipes apart. Would just like some pointers on where to focus my energy rather than attacking it with blind fury!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I used a dremel to make a small slot at the joint, only trying to remove material on the broken pipe. Then couple of taps with a screwdriver in the slot split the pipes. They came apart surprisingly easy.

POST 12Original post

Thanks - the weather has turned on me for now but I'll give this a go tomorrow!

POST 13Original post

Partial success! I have now separated the two pipes after cutting through the bolt and a bit of brute force. But the bolt is still seized in the fixing as per the photo - is my only option now to drill this out?

POST 15Original post

Could give this a go - heat the bolt then try and tap/hit it out?
