I recently replaced the battery in my Gen 1
Cayman S
. When I got everything operations again I noticed that the drivers side window didn't act normal. When I close it with the button on the door it won't close completely with the single action. Also, it won't make the closing action when I close the door. The passengers side works fine but the drivers side doesn't react. If I press lock on my key pad everything works fine aside from the window. It just won't ever raise the window.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your input.
From
981 manual
: Not sure if you may need to disconnect battery again then re-set windows as below:
Storing end position of the windows after connecting the vehicle battery
The end positions of the windows are lost when the battery is disconnected and reconnected. One-touch operation of the windows is disabled.
Perform these steps for all windows:
Close window completely
once
by pulling the rocker switch.
When the window is completely closed, briefly pull the rocker switch again
three times
.
Open the window completely
once
by pressing the rocker switch.
IIRC, the procedure to re-calibrate is slightly different on a 987. It is probably in the manual, but I think it goes like this:
Lower the window as far as it will go.
Press and hold the Up button. Once it gets to the top, continue holding the button for a few seconds.
Press the down button. If it doesn't go all the way, hold the down button.
Repeat the process until the controller learns both full open/closed positions.
I'm sure the manual has a better description, but a variation of this has always worked for me.
Update: From my 2010 manual it gives this guidance.
Storing end position of the windows
If the battery is disconnected and reconnected,
the windows will not be raised automatically when
the door is closed.
1. Close the windows with the rocker switch
once.
2. Press the rocker switch upwards again to store
the end position of the windows in the control
unit.
I replaced my battery a couple years ago (07
Cayman
) with no window issues. Wonder why my car retained its window memory. I did not hook up a power source to the cigarette lighter to retain memory. Maybe there is a default setting which worked OK in my car but not in yours. I dunno.... Below is the section from my manual about the issue:
Storing end position of the windows: If the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the windows will not be raised automatically when the door is closed.
1. Close the windows with the rocker switch once.
2. Press the rocker switch upwards again to store the end position of the windows in the control unit.
Probably has to do with the position of the windows at the time and/or how long the battery is disconnected. I suspect if your windows are fully closed and the door is closed when the battery is disconnected, there is less chance for mis-calibration.
Thanks everyone for your input on this issue. Sure is great to have people willing and able to help out! Sincerely, ****
Well, still no luck with the procedure in the manual or for the
981
procedure. Preparing to take it to the tech. Let you know what happens. Bummer.
