Suggestion

This car is VERY easy to change the oil on anyhow, i wouldn't bother.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking of putting in one of these valves ( http://qwikvalve.com/ ), it seems it would make oil changes easy. Has anyone tried this? Is there any problemw/ ground clearance, leaking or anything else. Will it cause my engine to blow up? Any comments appreciated.

POST 2Original post

That looks interesting, but really doesn't take more than a few seconds to loosen the plug. The mess free portion is a plus. Anyone have this? J

POST 3Original post

I wouldn't. You don't have a lot of clearance under the pan, and you'd hate to hit something on the road to rip that thing off.

POST 4Original post

Where the drain plug is located is not protected enough for that. drag you oil pan over a speed bump and out comes all your oil. This car is VERY easy to change the oil on anyhow, i wouldn't bother. Used a similar system on another car that was very hard to reach the drain plug, it was useful there, but doesn't apply to the 996

POST 5Original post

Thats the kind of **** that will put a carrera gt in your driveway. The obvious things!

POST 6Original post

Just wait for your RMS to blow, then refill the oil!

POST 7Original post

Outside of no protection down there, I have two that leak like hell that you are more than welcome to have. The concept is great but 1 out of 3 leak. Twist the wrench !

POST 8Original post

Like walking around with your pecker hanging out just so it is easier when you hafta take a ****........... No sale.

Some people just have a way with words!

POST 10Original post

Not personally buying one, but I can definitely see this being the type of thing that would have considerable sales and a large profit margin at the price point they are asking!

POST 11Original post

I had one of these, made by Fumoto IIRC, on both of my 95 Audi S6s, which have the drain plug on the side of oil pan. They worked great for years. However, I cannot see it working on the 996, where it would hang out the bottom. Stefan
