Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You mean Pendle Performance who advertise on eBay, don't have a rolling road, and check the car by a test drive at the end of the remap?
Leading evidence: 'Check car by a' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check car by a' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

But all I want really is to have the car set up to run 'as it should'.

It takes several hours to do, as he tailors a map for your particular car, testing each change as he makes it, on the dyno.

I'm considering using Pendle Performance for my re-map.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

can anyone recommend and share their experience of an ECU remap, cost - hp increase - supplying companies knowledge etc, seems like 600 quid can buy an extra 20 hp? lee
I had a Cayman S with a remap and milltek sports exhaust, which of course i removed and refitted the normal exhaust, and had the ecu remapped to the original programme
The exhaust was s##t, very bassey, any difference in throttle response was masked by the appalling sound from the exhaust
I wouldn't waste your money, on a turbo i could understand but even with sports chrono on a 997 the sport setting is very difficult to differentiate from the normal,so its a bonus if you buy one with it
on 300bhp 20BHP is about 7% increase I think, which you should notice
But one of the key points with ones like the DMS chip is that you get better fuel figures, and torque. It aint all about BHP
I'm considering using Pendle Performance for my re-map. The website quotes £300 and +25bhp/+30Nm. But all I want really is to have the car set up to run 'as it should'. By that I mean smooth the power/torque curve out and that
should
have a positive effect on driveability and fuel consumption.
You mean Pendle Performance who advertise on eBay, don't have a rolling road, and check the car by a test drive at the end of the remap? I believe you might also be able to meet them in a layby or car park somewhere.
Excuse my cynicism, but there are very few places I would trust to do a remap, and it certainly wouldn't be one without proper facilities. Not that I would consider it myself on a n/a 996 anyway, but I would want a custom live remap on a dyno by someone who
really
knew what he was doing, and that would cost more than £300.

....they understand Turbo's & GT2's rather well. I think some of the other guys mentioned on here use to work/learned the tuning business at West!
The other guys to consider talking with are Regal motorsport or Wayne at Chip Wizards.
+1 for DMS
+1 for Wayne Schofield
Definitely two I would trust.
I don't know if Wayne does 996s now, but I do know the care and effort he takes over remapping 993s. It takes several hours to do, as he tailors a map for your particular car, testing each change as he makes it, on the dyno. That's why it isn't cheap, but it is right.
Thanks Richard, i'd only looked at their website which was given to me by a friend of a friend. Didn't know those details you mentioned. I definitely will NOT be going there!!
