Suggestion

my current 996 C4S has PSE and get the best of both worlds low down grunt and noise when I wan't it and when I'm on the motorway and get that slight drone I flick a button and it's gone, Plus you feel a little less guilty on a late night run when you can start up in quiet mode not to wake the neighbourhood.

Suggestion

My 986 and mk1 996 had the standard exhaust which was comfortable if no thrills, tried an aftermarket solution for a week that sounded good then wanted to throw it in the bin and set fire to it after 10 mins of drone on the motorway.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What's the verdict on the Eurocup GT High Flow Stainless boxes for a daily driver? https://www.porscheshop.co.uk/eurocup-high-flow-rear-boxes-996-c2-4.html I'd be interested to some first hand experience, especially if you can draw a comparison to an alternative system on the same car to keep all other elements constant. POST 2Original post

First tip - I wouldn't buy anything from Porscheshop, they may have changed but I doubt it... they just seem to sell other peoples products (including genuine Porsche Parts) at a huge markup. I have the Milltek Stainless Sport back boxes on mine, no drone and stays reasonably quiet until you nail the throttle then sounds amazing. Plenty of guys on here rate the topgear exhausts and there is also a group buy thread. They do the mild and sports back boxes and are very similar

POST 3Original post

If it's a daily I'd say stick with either a stock equivalent or save for a real PSE. My 986 and mk1 996 had the standard exhaust which was comfortable if no thrills, tried an aftermarket solution for a week that sounded good then wanted to throw it in the bin and set fire to it after 10 mins of drone on the motorway. my current 996 C4S has PSE and get the best of both worlds low down grunt and noise when I wan't it and when I'm on the motorway and get that slight drone I flick a button and it's gone, Plus you feel a little less guilty on a late night run when you can start up in quiet mode not to wake the neighbourhood.
