Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm trying to stick with replacing bits that are worn out on a 18 year old car with better bits, though I have been side-tracked a few times.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for help on a clutch please !
My car has around 500 horse power I have been reading that the option to go for is the sachs 2.5 clutch
Has anyone fitted this kit is it worth doing?
Has anyone got a recommended place to buy one ?
Cheers
Many have fitted them to
their
996 and 997 turbos.
It's called the Sachs 890Nm clutch. Feels a little more grabby, but still easy to control, although I found my car more difficult to reverse, say into a tight garage; most of the time no issues.
The standard clutch is marginal on a standard power car. It'll get mullered if you ever drove it quickly on 500bhp, you could get a good tuner to tone down the torque, but why bother half tuning it?
Change the RMS whilst you're there.
I ran an upgraded clutch and LWFW in my 996 turbo. Only time it caused problems was when trying to reverse it on to a trailer. Uphill, low speed, reverse, not a good combination. In the future I will winch it on. Otherwise it was fine. I was running sone uprated cover plate from the US, I can dig out details but it was good for 650hp. There is no concept of limiting something on the 996/7 turbo to save a little as 'something' is always the limiting factor. Clutch, turbos, njectors, fuel pump, fuel lines, gearbox, rods, injectors again, turbos again, clutch again, driveshafts, repeat. Stop when you run out of money.

Oh so true. It's a very slippery slope and very deep rabbit hole that many of us us ventured into.
I'm trying to stick with replacing bits that are worn out on a 18 year old car with better bits, though I have been side-tracked a few times. It's a well trodden path.
Had a 890Nm, slave and sphere fitted just before lock down as the previous one started to slip after the mapping ect.. definitely more grippy and reverse is different but not a real issue..
