In the end I had them enable it, seems my indie was due to fit a load of these PCCM's to customers cars and was happy to do it for free just to have more info on fitting.

As I miss the feature of making a hands free call without having to take my hands away from the wheel to make and would be great if I can get it working on the new system as my indie only charged me £20 to plug in the PIWIS to change my options around when I've messed around in the past, enabling cruise control, radio functions ects.

Sorry for the late reply, here's a photo of what I mean, you get your indie or Porsche dealer to use PIWIS to enable navigation and track information on the cluster and you can get this on your PCM if you have the later type of instrument cluster with and OBC.

But thanks I can use SIRI to make calls which works pretty much as well and the radio display's voice assistant when doing so that scratches my itch to make it feel like it belongs.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have got myself one of the new PCCM's and fitted it to my 996 C4S, really enjoying the system. I had my indie enable the onboard computer to read out the track information and navigation directions on my instrument cluster. I had a Boxster a few years ago with the factory PCM 2.0 and remembered in the menu on the instrument cluster computer was the "TEL" option that let me look at my phone book, my last dialed numbers and makes calls all via the stalk without touching the PCM. Can anyone who has fitted a PCCM to their car that had a PCM 2.0 in it prior or enabled the telephone option tell me whether this still works with the new radio with their mobile connected via the phone option? As I miss the feature of making a hands free call without having to take my hands away from the wheel to make and would be great if I can get it working on the new system as my indie only charged me £20 to plug in the PIWIS to change my options around when I've messed around in the past, enabling cruise control, radio functions ects. I've taken a picture of the page in the cars manual of the option I am refering to.

POST 2Original post

I'm intrigued by your mention of enabling the OBC for track & navigation info. Can you share photos & details how to enable it? Re: phone integration. If PCCM has a voice assistant button you might find it easier to use that to tell SIRI to make a call for you. Plus it would save you the cost of enabling phone integration.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry for the late reply, here's a photo of what I mean, you get your indie or Porsche dealer to use PIWIS to enable navigation and track information on the cluster and you can get this on your PCM if you have the later type of instrument cluster with and OBC. In the end I had them enable it, seems my indie was due to fit a load of these PCCM's to customers cars and was happy to do it for free just to have more info on fitting. essentially unless anyone else knows any tricks I now have the telephone option in the OBC but if I click on it, it just says telephone available, I can't make calls ect. But thanks I can use SIRI to make calls which works pretty much as well and the radio display's voice assistant when doing so that scratches my itch to make it feel like it belongs.

POST 4Original post

thanks for the pic. That would certainly tempt me to get the PCCM. However I suspect it may not work for mine. My car has the OBC, & the cluster looks to be the same, but it's a 2001 gen2 3.6, & is pre MOST, so no fibre connections. I assume this would require some comm's between PCCM & dash cluster over the fibre channel to get the in dash nav prompts, or are there some other connections between dash & PCCM?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Possibly but the comms for the navigation and info on the cluster is on the can bus rather than the fibre so you may be in luck, essentially if your radio turns on by a can signal by a small square yellow lead in the back of your radio it should do two way communication and work if enabled however if the radio is turned on by the larger plug that also supplies your power reverse signal ect I'm afraid I don't think it will. good thing is it's easy to check, two radio keys pull it forward have a look and put it back in after.

POST 6Original post

PCCM+ Installation Videos I filmed the whole installation of the new PCCM+ in my 2002 C4S Install video is here: https://youtu.be/bmWw6GCp6rE Features Review video is here: https://youtu.be/P8sht--3VEg My car originally had the PCM1 with BOSE but it didnt have the MOST Fibre Optic. Hopefully it helps anyone looking to install the new unit themselves.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Re: PCCM+ Installation Videos Hi, I posted a reply to your original post of your install video which I'm afraid your install guy really ballsed up. no special tools needed to do it if you want to put it right. If you still have that shelf you had in the video you could relocate the usb box to the glove compartment, only should take around 15mins, dead simple job and you really need to take the radio out to lock it into place or you are asking for trouble there.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To conclude this thread. Official word from Porsche is this feature is no longer part of the new system. the audio information changes to the contact name when you are in a call however the the telephone only controls and display are no longer functional.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
