This is not a probability of success.

I'm also in with a 3-car team fielded by a group of people I know that ran cars last year.

We plan on running a nicely aged '86 BMW 528e we found cheap on Craigslist.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We are entering a 1985 1/2 Porsche 944 in the 24 hours of lemons. Visit our myspace page to find out more and look at pics. We should be adding a lot to the page soon.

And you are posting this here because??????
Are you wanting people to support you, join the race, etc??? You really need to give a bit more info instead of "check out my myspace page".
Very cool, but if you could post more info here I think you might garner a bit more support, etc.. Not many people are going to click on a myspace page. Myspace isn't exactly what the crowd here is what you would call the "target demographic".
Myspace makes it very easy for us to make a dedicated website for our car. We can post pictures, videos and anything else very easily. It is way easier than making a website for the car. I would use my 996 for the race but there is a $500 limit.
I had a friend who knew a girl from school that had a cousin who worked with a guy that had a page on My Space. I've never seen the site but I agree with Dell.
By the time it became popular it was so last week. By now it's so last century.
... the cool people have moved on and only sad old men are left behind pretending to be 16 year old coeds from Wisconsin named Candy.
I'm interested, and appreciate you posting about it.
There's been a little press on the 24 Hours of Lemons, and I've at least considered entering. I can't think of a way to get a suitable car for $500. Based on the previous post it sounds like your 944 fits the bill.
I think you may have assumed that folks here know a little more about it, and have the right sense of humor. In case folks want to find out more, go to 24hoursoflemons.com
On the off chance you need another driver, let me know.
Thanks for the props. There has been press in every major car magazine in the last few months. It should be tons of fun, and our car should be very fast compared to the competition. We scored and got an 85 1/2 944 with konis all around for $500 and it runs and drives perfect.
See, that is all we needed.......a real website to the event. But to post a "myspace" page that is filled with lies and **** stars as friends isn't exactly something you are going to get people to take you seriously about.
You know what? This is insane.
Lane, I personally very much appreciate hearing about your entry in the race - I've read alot about it, it sounds like a scream, I know you own a 996, so good call.
Dell, WTF? Who appointed you the damn moderator of the forum? How many threads do you jump into, blow them off, and post your "Thanks for playing!"
I'm not a member of this forum to hear your opinion on every freaking thread.
You're like the playground bully in grade school, and who wants to take this **** from you all the time about every conceivable topic?
Lane,
There was a great article in one of the car mags (I can't remember which) just a couple of issues ago that chronicled the magazines team. I think they had an Olds Aurora with a V8. It was a great read. It sounded like an absolute blast. Good luck.
Yeah, it's been in Car and Driver, Road & Track, AND the LA Times magazine "West" did a feature.
That's why it sounds like such a scream, 50 ****boxes flying around a track. I'd pick up an old MG, probably make it about 35 minutes before she blew....
Hopefully LVDell is alright with my posting of our video link. We turned in our application for the race the other day, and now we are just crossing our fingers that we get in. Here is the link to our video, hope you guys and girls enjoy it.

Save your receipts! You're going to have problems convincing the judges that you paid $500, and they deduct one lap for each $10 over $500 that they THINK you paid.
Good luck, I hope to be there myself.
Lane and PJorgen good luck getting accepted to participate on the race. We also submitted our application a couple weeks ago, and we are keeping our fingers crossed as well. I exchanged emails with Jay Lamm on Fri March 2nd, and he told me that they would be making final decisions that night, and everyone should know if they are in or out sometime on the week of March 5th.
Here's to good luck!
Sure thing
We plan on running a nicely aged '86 BMW 528e we found cheap on Craigslist. Finding the car, coming up with the team's concept, and putting together a "clever" entry submission has been a lot of fun...
Can't wait to get a thumbs-up that we're in!
Best!
We just found out that we are in!!!! We had a lot of fun making a video and working on our team concept. Now it's time to get the car and concept ready for race day. Good luck on getting in.
Hey Lane we are also in!!!... YIIIPPPPEEEE!!!
So now you better watch out for team "Das Cucaracha" out there
Have fun turning that lemon P-car into a race car, we plan on doing the same to our beloved "Roachie" Bimmer.
All the Best to you guys! See you in July!
I'm also in with a 3-car team fielded by a group of people I know that ran cars last year. Their stories were so good from last year that I couldn't resist joining them this year. Alas, not a Porsche, but some POS Alfas that will be my first (and probably last) forray into automobiles designed and built in Italy. Looking forward to it, and to seeing the two of you there.
Harry

That's awesome! My brother and I really wanted to participate in the "LeMons" and found an old BMW beater that the guy was asking $500 for (and we were going to offer less). The problem is we are on the right coast, so travel and expenses would've gotten out of hand quickly. I know they are getting a similar race together in Michigan (I think), but that's still a long haul for us.
And as for Myspace, you guys are acting like my grandmother who was scared to touch her computer's mouse and was afraid she might get sick every time she powered it up (from a computer virus, of course.) Seriously, you guys honestly believe every sensationalist story you read?
Myspace has become a very common method for sharing information and keeping up with people. I'm well into my 30s and my wife and I, and MANY of our friends, have myspace pages for keeping touch with old friends. Hell, my father-in-law has one for proudly sharing pictures of his grandchildren and many trips around the world.
