what do most of you prefer, pros and cons, etc of the Pioneer D3, Kenwood 7100 or maybe something else I haven't heard of? after reading the specs, since i like the factory look, the D3 sounds like the best choice, but the Kenwood and Z2 support voice dialing (which i can't do with my iphone unless the book is on the radio's HD)...so, anyone...?!? ;-)

I've always favored the Pioneer AVIC series because of the very low cost and they all use Pioneer Premiere MOS-FET amplifiers with discrete channel circuitry that get great reviews. If money was no object, I'd probably go for an Alpine unit, but the navigation is an external unit that on its own costs over $1,500... bringing your total system to cost close to $3,000; yet you get all those features in the D3 for under $1,000. The only weakness of the D3 is the lack of dual drives, if you listen to cd's a lot, you'll have to keep taking out the navigation dvd. In this case you might want to spring for the Z2. - Suneet

thanks.,.. they only thing i'm thinking of is how to enable voice dialing and the HD units allow that while the D3 apparently does not...my own phone, the iphone, doesn't have it built in nor is it currently capable of it, so a unit with that potential is a big consideration...any ideas how to get around this? i like the D3 and wondered if the ATT auto dial (which you have to pay for no less!) would work with a D3?

I purchased the Alpine IVA-W205 and Alipine PMB200 Blackbird Navigation, they call it the rock and dock which retails around $1500. It's the best post purchase since I bought my car last year. I considered the Pioneer but the Alpine was overwhelming and the Alpine IPOD interface all worked well together. Good luck!

I'm considering fitting the AVIC-D3 at moment, but for the extra money like the HD3BT for its storage. Has anyone fitted this one yet? blairsf - What else did you like about the Alpine?

Pioneer sucks as a nav unit. Their maps and routing are awful. the Kenwood with the Garmin unit, is my vote.
