Hi,
I have a non-Nav CS and am interested in adding bluetooth to my car, so I don't have to use the ear piece anymore. Seems like I can't use the Tooki, so what other options do people like out there? I'm considering the Dension, which will give me iPod capability too. Is the Pioneer Avic a decent option? I like having a lot of things looking factory, so I'm not sold on the Pioneer. Oh, and not sure if it matters, but I have the Bose stereo.
Thanks
No need to completely change the radio. I use a MOT IHF1000. Works fine.
I have the Pioneer AVIC-HD3 - I'm in the UK so it's equivalent to the Z2. It really does everything including playing DVD video if that's what you want. Won't bore you with all the other features, but the phone works perfectly - I've paired my iPhone with its bluetooth and it's immediately recognised the moment I turn the ignition. Brilliant!
I just took out a CDR24 to fit it so that may well go back in when I sell the car.
I use a Mot IHF 1000 too, but when i put it in my car I got a system fault error on the car's computer. I am concerned about bringing it in for service at Porsche for warranty reasons. Any ideas?
Maybe it was just something that came-up when it was first connected. If you can locate someone with an OBD II device you can clear the error code. Only if it re-occurs do you need to look further. I have one but I'm a few thousand miles away, which is no good to you.
If you know someone (like me and many other Cayman owners) with a Durametric OBD reader, it can reset error codes. If you get Snap Flash ECU software from Softronics, Scott will include the Durametric software at a significant savings.
Hmm, guess I won't be getting the Motorola IHF 1000. Watching DVD's in the CS isn't a huge priority for me. Maybe Dension is the way to go. Then again, I just saw a post on how bad the call quality is on that unit. Spending several thousand to get a PCM and Tooki doesn't seem that practical.
I just got an email from our local Porsche dealer, who has an offer for "Ipod" integration for only $1,295, plus labor I assume.
Good grief
Mine works fine. Relatively cheap and unobtrusiv. To each their own.
Can you please post pics of your installation? And your review of the product? I'm considering getting one of these...
Thanks!
I actually like th eunit - very good quality and user friendly. When a call comes in it mutes teh radio - so yes it is connected and that might be causing my error problem. I am going to see if the Durametric software can clear the error - if not my next step is to just remove the unit from my stereo and have it independent. One of those two should work.
Hope you can work something out.
Chows4us-
Thanks for the post. What exactly does the installation entail to require "professional" installation?
By that I mean, I wasn't going to do it. I hired some local company (I forget who know) that does local installs in your driveway. I assume he got power from the fuse box or a hot lead when the ignition is on, pulled out the interior parts to run the wires, bolted the speaker down low and out of site on the passenger side. Hid the mike up high and that's it.
