Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

i tried finding which fuse goes with the headlights , the little book in the fuse box does not seem to list which fuse belongs to the headlights ......... any one know which fuse it would be?? thanx all

POST 2Original post

I haven't grabbed my book or the fuse map stored inside the fuse box cover... But... I believe most (if not all) modern autos use thermal circuit breakers instead of fuses for the headlights . The idea is to have a self-resetting protection mechanism so you are not left without headlights in the case of a temporary fault/short. I'll post again if I find something different.

POST 3Original post

i have a new HID that seem to need more power than available i called the manufacturer and they suggested i change my fuses to higher ones???? does that make sense at all???

POST 4Original post

Dartdash, Sounds like you are trying to retrofit an aftermarket HID system. If so, you are not going to resolve the issue by simply changing fuses. The fuses are there to protect the wires. Putting in a higher value fuse without upsizing the wiring will result in voltage droop (loss) in the undersized wires at best; and at worst result in a wiring harness fire from overheating. There are reportedly very different wiring harnesses for Bi-Xenon vs non Porsches. Your best bet is to search here to find the posts from others who have pursued this option, and seek their advice. Too many unscrupulous sellers appear anxious to make a quick buck without properly educating buyers that changing to HIDs is not a simple as changing a light bulb. HID is an entirely different technology from tungsten filament based lamps (halogen or otherwise). HID lamps produce light from an electric arc in a plasma gas. They require their own power supply, as it takes very high voltage (vs automotive 12 volt systems) to create the necessary arc.
