Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all! A quick question for those with more mechanical knowledge than I. I want to adjust the damping setting on my B16s to be a bit more comfortable on the crumbling ribbons of asphalt that pass for roads here in the midwest. The question is, do I need to remove the shocks in order to do so? Though the car is too low to reach it, I can see the adjustment knob at the top of the shock, near where it is attached to the mount. Could I simply jack each side up until I can access the knob, and then adjust from there?

POST 3Original post

That's what I thought initially, but they appear to be the same based on the demo videos I've seen.

So yes, N you are on the right track. To increase compliance (soften the ride) you would turn the adjustment to provide less spring resistance. It looks like that model is height and single adjustable so you may wish to not only soften the dampening but increase ride height if the car is down over 30mm.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
