Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the opportunity to buy a New Sachs Clutch for my boxster for $200. The Clutch has been sitting on the guys shelf for 6-7 years becasue he sold the car before he ever installed the clutch. Question is: Can any damage be caused to the clutch if it has sat on a shelf for 7 years?? corrosion, rust etc..... anything I can check on it before I pay him?

POST 2Original post

Make sure it LOOKS brand new and then only pay him $150 If it was poorly stored, you could have problems, but no, there are plenty of cars with clutches that have been installed for 2 decades that work just fine.

POST 3Original post

Parts like that usually do not go bad on the shelf...now if the self is in his tin shed in very hot and humid area it will be very rusty and the disk will not function as it should. Buyer beware.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok cool he was asking $300 for it so I already got him down $100 Im not sure he will take $150 but I wil certainly try
