Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I believe the usual first step is to take out the battery and inspect the drain holes in/near the battery tray for dead leaves etc blocking.

Thanks, I did find that the gap under the windscreen trim was letting too much water run over the foam cover.

I think its excerbated by the plastic windscreen trim being a bit loose and allowing more than a drip to go under and onto the foam guard rather than running over the trim.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After some experiments with a watering can on the windscree, its drips out the heater and gets in through the cabin filter.
It seems that the water flow overwhelms the little foam cover that covers half of the filter and then waterfalls on the filter, I cant believe how it ever worked in the first place. I think its excerbated by the plastic windscreen trim being a bit loose and allowing more than a drip to go under and onto the foam guard rather than running over the trim.
I thing I will semi seal the plastic trim to the windscreen so it all goes over the trim and not under it.
Is this a known issue?
Minor, but a wet floor is a real pain.
Can i just confirm that on your run out it did actually rain ? if not its a/c drain blocked or detached .
Can you post a picture of the pollen filter area .. the half foam cover is standard with the plastic tray over the top of this .. i can understand a leak via the pollen filter if this tray was missing but not with it fitted so i'm a little confused atm as it all sounds standard .
Foam cover should look like this ..
Thanks, I did find that the gap under the windscreen trim was letting too much water run over the foam cover. Ok in light rain it drains to the side but in heavy rain or watering can the water goes straight under the trim, over the foam and into the cabin filter, past the fan this then makes the carpet wet as it drips out of the recirc vent. This is the route in red.
I did check the aircon drain, this is ok.
This is probably because the trim is a bit bent due to age, sunlight etc and a gap of 5mm exists so more of the rain goes under rather than over the trim.
I sealed the trim to the windscreen, now the water goes in the direction of the yellow arrows and drains safely away through the normal drains either side of the battery. A few watering cans later, no more in the cabin.
Thanks for the picture and the explanation .. i understand now .
I've not yet come across this but i'm sure i will so i've learnt something today :thumb:
Thanks Demort, no doubt with a new trim and new foam( mines a bit more saggy than your picture) it wouldnt need sealing, but mine are all a bit tired like me, so hence my 'fix'.
This car likes to keep me on my toes..
