Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
As an alternative to fitting a double din and all the hassle of moving parts around and then finding an appropriate bezel you could fit a single DIN Pioneer SPH-BT 10 which uses your own phone screen for the display (because you have to put your own phone somewhere so why not make it do some work)
Leading evidence: 'Use own phone screen' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use own phone screen' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The main advantage for me was being single din it worked with my lower console delete for extra legroom.
You could try this

Not cheap but with all the bells and whistles.
Depends on your definition of quite easily. Give you have a cdr-22 I guess your heater controls and head unit are towards the top of the dash which means you need to relocate the heater controls to the lower binnacle. Not too tricky, there's a kit to do that. Then it's just a question of selecting and fitting a double din unit to the upper space.
As you're non bose the wiring will be pretty simple.
Just to a search for double din fitment 986 as our dash is identical to the boxster and as there are more of those about the work tends to be better documented.
It's not hard but in addition to moving the A/C controls (which is trivial) you do need to hack some bits out of the dash, as there are some moulded-on and riveted-in supports in there which need to come off before a double-DIN unit will fit.
I strongly recommend using a plastic fitting kit rather than the usual flimsy metal - it's hugely more stable and also gives a better end result. The plastic kits usually include the A/C relocation kit as well. By that, I mean -
DO get this

DON'T get this

My other top tip is to completely remove the factory fascia before doing the alterations, it makes the whole thing much easier.
So yeah it's a minor faff and because of the alterations is irreversible. But in my book well worth it.

The unit uses Pioneers own software to replicate CarPlay so you can use the phone navigate using Waze and play from Spotify etc. And all this for about £80 plus a wiring harness for about £30
Another vote for the Pioneer SPH-10BT.
Not perfect but pretty damned good and for the money well worth it. The main advantage for me was being single din it worked with my lower console delete for extra legroom.
As said gives fully up to date comms and connectivity while colour matching to the orange dash lighting (While not looking like a Wurlitzer itself)
