I have had similar problems over the years with mine and probably have taken every bolt off the car by now, I have always replaced nuts and bolts with copper grease on them and when I come to remove them again the come off easily, makes the car so much easier to work on that second time around.
Leading evidence: 'Replace nuts and bolts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I'd changed suspension on Vw's and Audi's for almost 20 years and never had a bolt seize like the n/s pinch bolt on my C2, I didn't have a decent workbench at the time so left the hub in situ and drilled/punched the old bolt out :nooo:

Two broke loose after having the drop link end sawn off and a long bar and then impact wrench used brutally.

I too have used copper grease throughout the suspension where I wanted bolts to come out again.

Suggestion
Make sure that you use aluminium grease on aluminium parts and not copper grease, copper grease actually promotes corrosion with ally parts.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Holy crap. I've been working on cars all my life and never seen anything sized in like the front strut pinch bolt/anti roll bar link. Heat.....nope, nothing worked. In the end strut in a vice and lump hammer at full tilt. It's now half out and soaking in duck oil. It WILL come out but holy cow I'm shocked how bad it's stuck in there. Steel into alloy can be problematic. Has anyone had this particular bolt seized in badly? It's a bloomin anti roll bar link, you would have thought it would not have been in there that long as they always wear. Anyway enough rambling.
Welcome to the club!
Had the same problem on mine, not too badly seized thankfully but needed a lot of hammering and heat. Hope the coffin arm bolts aren't seized in too...
Heat & impact gun at local workshop made light work. Brake caliper bolts sometimes suffer too and not forgetting wheel bearing plate bolts sheer.
The strut can also bond to the hub too.
Feeling your pain! I'd changed suspension on Vw's and Audi's for almost 20 years and never had a bolt seize like the n/s pinch bolt on my C2, I didn't have a decent workbench at the time so left the hub in situ and drilled/punched the old bolt out :nooo:
Ahhh. Thanks for the reply guys. It's out and obviously completely knackered but going to put new ones in anyway. On the n/s the abs sensor plug bolt sheared off so that's going to be sorted this morning. Honest to god why it was so seized is a mystery. On most cars the anti roll bar links are almost a service item. Well up here with these roads anyway so was not expecting it. Copper grease when it's going back in methinks. That's front struts off anyway. Now it's the rears............. surely to god.......fingers crossed lol.

My ABS sensor bolts came out ok, but the sensor itself had to be knocked out with brutal force as the metal bracket cracked around the plastic housing.
Autodoc sell the sensors at fraction of oem cost. The Bosch part is stamped with 996.606.406.00 anyway!
Check the wheel bearings as I suspect you will feel play in the hub too.
Copper grease is great for steel parts. Make sure that you use aluminium grease on aluminium parts and not copper grease, copper grease actually promotes corrosion with ally parts.
I feel your pain. I did mine a few years back. Had to take the struts off the car and use fire, a sledge hammer, and many drills. Each one took about a day to get out without knackering the upright.
I too have used copper grease throughout the suspension where I wanted bolts to come out again. I've come back to stuff that I bolted in seven years ago (my car isn't garaged) and it's been easy to undo. Copper grease might theorectically promote corrosion, but in practise it does a good job. Ali grease is no doubt better, but copper grease works none the less.
Yes both my brake line brackets bolts snapped off when I undid them, one on each side, drilling, retapping etc.
As for removing abs sensors... ahh a good evenings work will drills, chisels etc.
The pinch bolt I smacked for ages, another long evening to get it out, but since then I put in the new ones with grease, they now slide out.
In fact my hubs look so knackered now Im tempted to swap them for some breakers ones.
Hi
I feel your pain.
I have done all four of these on my 130k mile 2003 Boxster recently. Three were horribly seized. Two broke loose after having the drop link end sawn off and a long bar and then impact wrench used brutally. One ended up in a 12t press and needed about 6t to come out. That bolt would rotate with the long bar, but not the impact wrench.
All the best
Berni
At the same juncture. It was all going so well, everything undone but the pinch bolts on both sides are seized in. The whole leg will have to come off the car just to get a good enough swing at it!
