50% of used Porsches I've ever clicked on have been in Aberdeen much to my annoyance here in the SouthWest.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

The collapse in oil price and subsequent collapse in oil and gas operational spending in the North Sea is resulting in thousands of high paid jobs and contractors being laid off.
Pure speculations but I would imagine the Porsche customers in Aberdeen will mostly be connected to energy production in some way or another.
Does this mean the best deals and most desperate salesmen will shortly be found to the North of Inverness?

Good luck finding a Porsche dealer north of Inverness!
Oh! I had assumed there was one in Aberdeen. 50% of used Porsches I've ever clicked on have been in Aberdeen much to my annoyance here in the SouthWest. In my minds eye there was a big OPC in Granite City...

Aberdeen is south of Inverness, isn't it?

There is, but it's not north Inverness
Ah. Arse.
You really would have thought I would not have made that mistake having flown airliners into both. In fact I'm fairly sure I once diverted from INS to ABZ. Oh well, another example of generation GPS!
Still, are there suddenly a lot of cancelled Porsche sales up there?

Funny you say this. Just found the perfect spec cayman.
Located in Aberdeen haha, I'm in South Wales
The search continues
Why not go up there and get it?

If it's your perfect spec and its the right price fly up and collect and enjoy the car on the trip home.
I wouldn't get your hopes up any. There has been far harsher times in the oil industry and they have survived.
There hasn't been that many people made redundant. Many of them are offshore workers and many of them don't live local to Aberdeen.
Cars are too pricey in Aberdeen so hopefully they will come down to normal levels. I don't even see that happening.

Aberdeen not in the Artic Circle as some assume.
I'm told you can drive from Aberdeen to (at least) Pisa without coming off a dual carriageway if that's your thing.
I know the guys (genuine enthusiasts) at Aberdeen OPC and am sure they would be genuinely helpful if you wanted to come up to collect.
lots of speed cameras on the way back from Aberdeen but its a nice easy drive
recently did an Aberdeen to Cardiff run in 8 hours including stopping for breakfast and lunch
oh and in regards to the industry up there, the only ones that seem to be suffering is the day rate contractors atm and its more a case of taking a hit on their day rate rather than loosing jobs just now. although that could quite quickly change
Alas it's a private seller and not opc. Just looking for decent return flights in case I don't need the return
Any other form of travel is no go, I'm not one for journey's.
if flights are proving problematic try Edinburgh or Glasgow. its not a kick the backside up to Aberdeen from either and we do a lot of runs from both in this very situation due to a lack of suitable flights.

Porsche Aberdeen will barely even notice! Same as Aberdeen Audi,BMW etc...
A lot less then Audi and BMW Imo demand for porsches is less elastic to incomes I think
Dunno,
I'm in Aberdeen, in O&G and not sleeping rough yet.
The industry will bounce back - it always does.
You have to remember we don't all work in the North Sea just because we live here and have offices here...
Day rates have dropped for some contractors by 25%. This might seem a lot but they were previously on £500+ per day so they're not on the breadline just yet. The salaries for engineers etc in the Aberdeen have been out of control for some time :- 23 year olds with 2 years experience earning £80-100k is common so an adjustment is not totally unwelcome in some areas. When oil was $100+ this wasn't an issue and Saudi were willing to close their taps and play the long game, this doesn't appear to be the case at the moment and there are plenty of theories why this is happening - hurting Russia being one of the most likely.
The new Porsche premises are owned by a friend of mine so I will find out soon enough if there are any issues.
