(I'm not concerned about the cosmetic look, just intrigued to understand where they get fitted - replacing the connectors at each end of the pipe?)

I'll have to ask my local Indy's about using these rather than completely replacing what do indeed appear to be 100% perfect pipes (now that i have given them a clean lol)

At some-point next year will need to get them replaced i suspect.

Also - any idea on the cost of replacing these items at an Indy with me supplying the bulk of the expensive bits?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Depending on the state of the K16s that come off my car I'll then send those off to be refurb'd so i again have a spare set ready for use if i need them lol

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The original K16 turbos on my car are getting a little long in the tooth. They still function well and hold boost (0.7), but the bodies are corroded. At some-point next year will need to get them replaced i suspect.
I already have a set of refurb'd K16 turbos from AET complete with wastegates.
I have the turbo heat shields and also the turbo oil collector units on order from Rose Passion.
My Indy can source basics such as gaskets/nuts etc im sure.
Is there anything else i need when swapping the turbos? (I'm hoping new oil lines are not needed, hence holding off buying those).
Anything else that is a shade pricey that would make sense me ordering pre-Brexit?
Also - any idea on the cost of replacing these items at an Indy with me supplying the bulk of the expensive bits? Anyone had turbo replacements recently to qualify the cost/annoying rusted bolts that are involved? lol
Ta!
Ive just gone through this as i was a bit less lucky and mine had corroded through, totally destroyed.
Fought me every step of the way, id maybe budget for the oil lines, the fitting on mine were corroded badly and wouldnt come out of the turbo sumps.
I ended up cutting and fitting AN6 adapters on mine, have a look at my build thread for more details
Cheers fella! There is a parts diagram lower down this page - there seem to be 4x oil pipes for the turbos?

Which ones did you have issues with? All of them?
AN6 adapters and cutting sound like a far cheaper solution than 4x new pipes . . . . :?:
Correct, there is indeed 4, one in and one out on each side.
The cost for them wasnt too bad but more the faff to change what was essentially a perfectly good pipe aside from the fitting.
Plus i really like the AN fittings, so it was a win win really
What size AN6 fittings did you need? (Or is that a stupid question = AN6 *is* the size of the union?)
I'll have to ask my local Indy's about using these rather than completely replacing what do indeed appear to be 100% perfect pipes (now that i have given them a clean lol)
Thinking about doing mine in the near future - would you mind sharing what AET did to the refurbed units (straight replacement for some parts/upgrade to billet wheel/cutback wheel/etc) and if you're willing, what they charged you?
:thumb:
AET cost wasn't too bad. Certainly cheaper than new Borg Warner K16s + wastegates 8)
The cost will depend on the state of the turbos you send them. I had a spare set that i bought on here for not that much and sent them off for refurb. I think the total cost of buying the spare K16s and the refurb (new chra, centres, wastegates, shot blasted housings etc etc) came to about £2000
AET (others are available!) offer a decent email service. Ask a question and they are quite quick to reply.
Depending on the state of the K16s that come off my car I'll then send those off to be refurb'd so i again have a spare set ready for use if i need them lol
Cheers!
I don't suppose you could upload a few pictures of how the AN6 unions look in situ could you? (I'm not concerned about the cosmetic look, just intrigued to understand where they get fitted - replacing the connectors at each end of the pipe?)

I'm going through the same thing my turbo's are knackered be prepared for a nightmare with your oil lines etc nuts ,bolt corrosion is horrendous here's what I've purchased so far.......
Just wondering why you need to purchase so many parts - were the fittings so corroded that you couldn't get any out?
If so, did you consider simply chopping the old oil lines and replacing them with flexible stainless steel braided hoses with compression fittings onto the stubs of the old lines?
Not the cleanest install, but oem prices for those lines and parts must be heading for £2k? :dont know:
Can I guess that the reason you bought new sumps was because the sump plugs were absolutely solid in the hole and you just chewed the sump plug into pieces?
It came down to labour cost versus new parts
As I'm not doing the job myself I told the mechanic to save what he could but everything was so badly corroded that it was quicker any easier to replace.
The parts came to £1400
