Suggestion

I’m always very careful with the oil temperature before using a lot of boost & ‘warm down’ on the last few miles of any drive.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yeah would be a daily driver, in-so-much as I only do around 5,000 miles a year. Thanks for the heads-up on the steering will check it out - what don't you like about it?

POST 4Original post

I think Power Steering Plus can be deactivated by the OPC....although it doesn’t bother me ! The main spec issue with that car is that it’s not got extended leather which I think is knows as the GTS Interior so it’s got a plastic dash which is not ideal and it’s got the standard seats so limited adjustment and not as much support as some of the other options. Letter is obviously very personal. Can’t remember what the seats look like without the GTS interior/whether they have the alcantara inserts etc.

Think leather is a must... Sorry ! But it’s something that should be reflected in the price....will be if you ever sell. One thing that’s important with 991.2 GTS is don’t get one built after summer 2018. Those have GPF fitted so sound s te.

POST 9Original post

Its missing the GTS Interior pack inc the carbon accents. Big miss on a GTS tbh, as that is one of the unique spec elements for the model. IIRC, its leather dash w/ deviated stitch in red or silver, alcantara wheel with marker, tacho in red/silver, lower dash in alcantara, door cards in leather/alcantara w/ deviated stitch and same in the back. You could have had any of the seat options with the GTS pack IIRC. Mine has 18ways. They are leather outers, alcantara inners and red stitch etc. Definately dont need a front axle lift on a gts either Edited by mikeh501 on Thursday 8th October 20:05

POST 10Original post

That price seems a bit toppy tbh. There's a big 991 gts thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Thanks for the heads-up on the steering will check it out - what don't you like about it? Makes the steering too light and just felt disconnected , +1... +1 from me too! PSP is truly awful. I also understand that on the 992 you can't have it removed like you could on the 991.1 and 991.2?

POST 12Original post

Another vote against PSP here. At low speeds it removes any feel or heft to the steering, so around town it's dead. Then it transforms into normal Porsche steering once you get going. For me consistent feel/weighting of the steering is crucial to how connected a car feels

Power steering plus you only feel at parking speed. It saves effort parking. Other than that you don’t feel it. I wouldn’t refuse a car if it had it, I actually like it.

POST 14Original post

Bizarrely specced GTS with frippery such as heated steering wheel and front lift but basic placcy dash and door tops. Looks expensive too especially for a 2017.

POST 15Original post

Save 20K and get an S unless you really love alcantara. Get it remapped to 520 bhp at Litchfield and put the 19300 you save towards your 2nd car.

POST 16Original post

Yeah the EPAS isn’t the best when compared to a GT3 but the engine is a masterpiece. For the money and bar a GT3 the GTS is probably the best N/A 991.1 out there.

POST 17Original post

Gen 1 all the way. Gen 2 was the first Audi-fied non-GT 911.

I kept mine 2 months, hated how it drove. great engine that's it. I would take a 991.2 GTS as a daily. 991.1 EPS is utter dire crap.

Compromise either way I guess with the .1 and .2. The EPAS doesn't bother me at all and not once have I thought it was utter crap. Your .1 GTS might have been a Friday build lemon and you were unlucky.

CloudStuff said: Gen 1 all the way. Gen 2 was the first Audi-fied non-GT 911. Fair enough to prefer the Gen 1, but Audi doesn’t come into it. The Gen 2 is still a 991 and it has a flat 6 developed specifically for the car. Plenty of upsides, with little improvements across all the areas and an engine that works so well for any use, but in particular daily driving.

You really don't have a clue and talk utter nonsense. I was talking to a rather famous chap last week who has driven more metal than you could ever dream off, the chat was about how good the 991.1 GTS is and how Porsche went downhill from there on (GT Motorsport cars excluded from that).

POST 22Original post

It's an oddly specced car that. Many 'must have' GTS options missing inc the interior pack and leather dash etc. Barring that they are superb cars, drove mine recently around Scotland and it is impressive cable and very very quick. It was a joy. the dot 1 is a different proposition and has the sound but not the speed of the dot 2. Great cars! Possibly one of the most capable road going modern 911's of recent years. Oh, and pretty much as quick on track as GT3. They really are a very capable package.

I own a .1 and concur its a marvellous sports car and I used to hold the view it was slower than the .2 after a few passenger rides in a friends; however after a road trip last year over a number of days and hundreds of miles the .1 is definately not slower, more dependent on gear and revs yes, but when your properly 'driving' theres nothing in it.

I’m going to have to agree to disagree with you there. Having driven many thousands of miles on fast road trips, the dot 2 has a turn of speed that the dot 1 can't live with. It’s the low down torque and also the tweaks to the chassis that make if harder for the dot 1 to live with the dot 2. Both mega cars, but different. Edited by jcosh on Tuesday 13th October 10:23

POST 26Original post

I thought all UK 911’s came with extended leather on doors and dash? I’m sure that’s the first one I’ve seen in the UK like that. Common place in US and Aus

POST 27Original post

Extended leather to dash and door tops was an option on the 997 GTS as well as the 991.

POST 28Original post

POST 29Original post

Had my manual 991.2 GTS a little over a month now. Done nearly 2000 driving the Wild Atlantic Way in western Ireland. It can be a real Jekyll/Hyde car in so much as it’s a really relaxing & comfortable long distance cruiser then put it into sport+ & give it a few revs then all hell breaks loose(in a good way). Economy is surprisingly good & very little oil used- from 100% to about 75% on the digital dipstick. I’m always very careful with the oil temperature before using a lot of boost & ‘warm down’ on the last few miles of any drive.

POST 30Original post

What sort of MPG are you getting? Have you had any preventative work done to the turbos? Or do you have an OPC warranty?

Sukh13 said: What sort of MPG are you getting? Have you had any preventative work done to the turbos? Or do you have an OPC warranty? 28-33 depending on the road conditions: But I don’t try hard for economy. It’s 1 month into a 2 year OPC warranty; has had a turbo replacement, just gone through 12000 miles. I don’t see why the turbos are so expensive to fix- I’ve done a supercharger & 2 turbo conversions on other cars. They weren’t expensive to do. Plus there are plenty of options for rebuilds & upgrades.
