Have found them on eurocarparts and they're about £12 cheaper ?

By any chance did you speak to a guy call Charlie yesterday at D A Factors?
I work in engine management and I personally rate Bosch well above Beru based on experience of failures.

Lloyd, please explain where to put the silicon grease and the reasons why.
I have two coils that need changing as OPC said they were cracked. I've got two new Bosch units but haven't figured out how to change them yet.

The silicon should be applied liberally around the shaft of the pencil, up inside the end where it meets with the spark plug and the electrical connector. This helps prevent condensation from the alloy cylinder heads dampening the coil and / or moisturizer getting into the electrical contacts.
Many OEM bulletins stipulate that silicon should be applied when installing pencil type coils.
Unless the coils are positions 3 or 6 they are a nasty job so the last thing you want to be doing is the job all over again due to water ingress.
Bosch coils
I was reading through various posts regarding coils as i intend to replce mine this week.
Could anyone tell me what type of silicon grease is recommended for putting on coils.
Also, are te Bosch ones better than the BERU ones?

I sell the silicone grease, £9.84 inc vat & 1st class post, comes in an 85g squeezy tube, 85grams will do loads of jobs even after plastering 6 Porsche coils. The uses are endless, any electrical contact, window regulators, squeaky door rubbers etc etc.
It is said Bosch are superior to Beru but on a 996 I would say they are both about level. Porsche use both suppliers.
For the record Bosch is in short supply until late September so Porsche will be selling Beru for the next few weeks to their franchises.
