Go out to the garage and use your keyfob to remotely lock the car.
Leading evidence: 'Use keyfob' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use keyfob' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the Mods 4 Cars Remote Key installed on my car and Im experiencing something that I want to see if others are as well. Sometimes when I lock the car with the key fob, I will get the usual two beeps and lights flashing, but about 20 seconds later, I get another 2 beeps, but no lights. The car is still locked.
Anyone experience this or know why this is happening?
Jason.
Thats a good question, it probably happens more than I realize, but just dont pay attention. For the longest time, I thought I was imagining it, but this morning, I was standing near the car and it happened. I dont think its hurting anything, but if its some option I can turn on/off, Id like to know.
Hasn't happened here, but since you are local to them why not give them a call and drop by and show them? There is also a programming update for the device now as well you could get a new flash.
It's happened to me before. I can't say that it happens consistently, since I don't pay much attention usually, but definitely happened before. And I went to the trouble of unlocking and relocking it to make sure it's locked.
I have the same problem. It seems to me that after a certain time of walking away from the car it locks its self. Iv had it relock on me while just standing 2 feet away. I don't find it a problem as long as it doesn't unlock its self.
If you unlock the car, then don't do anything for a period of time, it relocks itself. I don't think the mods4cars device changes this functionality. I'm sure its detailed somewhere in the manual (and someone can provide a reference
).
I can recall this happening to me once. I was walking away from my car and I heard the two beeps of the horn and thought, why did that just happen? I walked back to my car and it was still locked. Strange.
It has only happened to me that one time and never again.
From the Owners Manual (page 18) "
If the vehicle was locked before the luggage compartment is opened, it is unlocked simultaneously with the luggage compartment.
The vehicle will be locked again approx. 15 seconds after the luggage compartment is closed if none of the doors was opened."
This doesn't sound like what is happening but is what I believe smounic was thinking about.
As far as I know - the car doesn't lock itself, I've kept mine unlocked in my garage for about 3 months now, except for taking it out once in early December, and it stays unlocked - which is good because that way the battery doesn't run down.

Beez,
Go out to the garage and use your keyfob to remotely lock the car. Then use the keyfob to unlock the car but don't open any door or hatch. The car should re-lock itself back to the locked state. The assumption is that it could be possible for some stray radio signal to unlock your car at some point and you don't want that so if the computer doesn't sense the door or truck being opened within a certain period of time it returns it back to the locked state.
If your car is in the unlocked state and you get out of the car and leave it unlocked it will not lock itself.
Make sense?
Hmmmm. I think this is what must have happened to me....while somewhat stupid .... put the keys down in the rear luggage compartment to pick up a parcel, turned around and then back to close the the rear hatch...walked away and heard the click..... come back to see my keys locked in the CS.
The same thing happens to me occasionally. I lock the door, hear the two honks, and walk away from the car. When I get about 30 feet away, I hear two honks again. Go back to the car and the doors are locked.
I thought it was strange, but didn't pay much attention because it has happened maybe twice in the months that I've had the remote key installed. I thought it was just something pressing on the key in my pocket for a long period of time, but that doesn't make much sense because if that were the case, the door would be unlocked.
Anyway, I never came back to an unlocked car, so I didn't really worry about it.
I have had this happen a few times too, I have noticed it when I lock my car at work and am walking away. It only seems to happen when I have put my keys in my pocket, it has never happened when I keep this keys in my hand while walking away.

Has anyone without the mods 4 cars ever had the car beep at you 20 seconds or so after you lock it? Maybe this is a porsche thing and not a mods 4 car thing?
