Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
You could just screw it direct to PU using the carrier fixing points.
Leading evidence: 'Use carrier fixing points' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use carrier fixing points' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a black 996 and have now owned it for some 5 months loved it to be honest
but my one niggle is the front number plate :x very large and wont sit right on the bumper pr the silly extra bit that came with teh car.
:?: wondered what you guys had done or if some of you might have some pics would really love to sort this as i feel it sort of spoils the otherwise crisp lines.
currently no number plate but i won't get away with that for much longer
thanks in advance
Buy a short personalised plate, like "A1", and trim to size.
Aslong as character spacing is correct, AFAIK the actual reflective substrate can be shortened.
just had mine mot'd, they made me buy a set of standard plates and put them over the top to pass the test. My font is easy to read with a very slight shadow & Porsche logo on lhs. Apparently regs changed this year and are very strict certainly on font, height and spacing, not sure on overall reflective plate size though.
The mounting Plinth on a facelift narrow body 911 is different to the pre facelift and turbo body version
the facelift version is slightly larger than the no plate
the smaller version fits behind the plate and is smaller
so you may need a facelift plinth and fit it to you earlier car
Cheers guys thanks for the comments might try and find one of those larger plate holders you talk of, otherwise I think it will have to be a smaller plate thought of cutting mine down to fit plastic back ground.
Not as short as "A1" but I just trimmed the plate to the length of the carrier, and put the fixing screws close to the ends to hold the plate to shape.
To be honest, any shorter than carrier would look odd.
You could just screw it direct to PU using the carrier fixing points.
Only slight issue is that plate "hugs" lower contour of PU and effectively points face downwards. Looks quite nice on GT3alikes, due to pointy sharky nose cone. Only "problem" is forward facing GATSOs have difficulty reading them!
... dum de dum
Many thanks for the photo I really like this idea what did you use to trim it. I have been told repeated sharp Stanley blade will do it? Your help much appriciated.
I just marked it on the back with a square, and cut it with a wood saw. Cut from the back side so that it doesn't separate the backing from the plate, and take it slowly. Finish the edges and round the corners with a file.
