Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 3Original post

What version of PCM have you got? (Or what model year is your car?)

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Richard my car is a 2002 996 cab facelift steve

POST 5Original post

The question is when in 2002 was it built. If it is prior to 1st September, then it is MY2002 and you have PCM1 2nd generation 16-bit. If it is after September 1st, then it is MY2003 you have PCM2.0. Check the 10th digit of your VIN. "2"=MY2002, "3"=MY2003. If you have PCM1, contact Gil Keane at Satnavshop/Quicksilver Automotive on 0121 773 7000 or 07973 216682 as they do a modified version of the latest Opel maps, much cheaper than Porsche. If you have PCM2.0, drop me a PM.
