Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It happens all the time (rough roads, speed humps etc) but is I think more noticable after running for some time.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone any experience of a rattling steering rack, again trying to get to the bottem of my front end niggles, its a maze of stuff up there. Martin :dont know:

POST 2Original post

Does this sound like your niggle? Rattle over small bumps at low speed sounds like a rack joint bit there is no freeplay at the steering wheel ONLY happens after a longish drive and the longer you drive the more it rattles? Seems tohave gone away again in the morning

POST 3Original post

any specific driving instances or all the time ?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

adeymars & sundeep, Thanks for the questions. It is most noticeable on rough surface conditions where there is a repetative frequency ie. cobbles.I recently had the front end investigated and all seemed well in suspension world, but after greasing the steering linkages inside the boots the problem stopped for a short while. Last weekend whilst performing a 180 on a rough car park the rattle was really amplified, it comes from both sides of the car simultaneously. It happens all the time (rough roads, speed humps etc) but is I think more noticable after running for some time. It is very annoying, but I must get to bottom of it before the wallet gets in on the act! Martin :?:
