Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Buy from as reliable a trader (or PHer) as possible, get it inspected by a pro (preferably a turbo guy), view a load and test-drive a lot before finally picking your beauty based on condition, history, gut feel and, finally, price.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thinking of buying 996 turbo as a second car approx 35k to spend any advice on what to look for and what to avoid please

POST 2Original post

make sure the car is PPI'ed and serviced correctly

POST 3Original post

The key is to check that it has been serviced by OPC and has a low or relatively low mileage. A big plus would be also an OPC warranty. They are very good cars and you cannot go wrong with those.

POST 4Original post

Why? I don't disagree with you re: OPC warranty (which would require OPC servicing, IIRC) but a car being serviced at, say, Hartech with one of their warranties wouldn't be much further down my list, if at all. I would also dispute the "you cannot go wrong with those" - all cars (new and 2nd H) carry a risk, so I think the more pertinent phrase is surely "caveat emptor"??? Buy from as reliable a trader (or PHer) as possible, get it inspected by a pro (preferably a turbo guy), view a load and test-drive a lot before finally picking your beauty based on condition, history, gut feel and, finally, price. Just my 2p.
