Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Supposedly the Alpine unit is an approved Porsche fitment for non PCM cars (or it was at the time) and was fitted by an OPC.

I bought a '52 (MOST) X50 turbo a couple of months back and it got a clean bill of health from Specialist Cars of Malton recently so pretty happy with it.

I need to remove the CD changer, as I think I can fit my new amp in there, and wire into the existing speaker wires (hopefully without cutting into it but reversible in any case) and run the wires from the HU to the amp.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Haven't really said hello despite posting recently so hello from me. I bought a '52 (MOST) X50 turbo a couple of months back and it got a clean bill of health from Specialist Cars of Malton recently so pretty happy with it.
It's a replacement for my BMW Z3M Coupe as I needed 4 seat family transport. If anyone is still not sure about fitting a buggy in a turbo I can confirm that the Quinny Zapp fits in nicely with loads of space left. (I've taken off some trim to locate the amp, etc)
PCM wasn't high on my list as it's pretty outdated and I was thinking about getting rid of the centre piece as a bit of extra leg space for the passenger would be better with the baby seat in the back. The car I bought had a Porsche fitted Alpine Navigation unit and the factory fit Nokia phone option. It seems that it wasn't actually one of Stuttgart's finest that fitted it but rather the Butcher of Baghdad himself with a million miles of extra wiring in there. As it's a MOST car I guess it isn't a simple plug and play affair so......
Out came the old unit......
.....leaving this space. The heated seat button wiring will be extended to the tunnel blanks.
And will be fitted with this...
However, if anybody knows how the window trim comes off (pull I guess but where and how hard) as I need to remove the old GPS unit and phone antenna.
I'll update as I go along. I need to remove the CD changer, as I think I can fit my new amp in there, and wire into the existing speaker wires (hopefully without cutting into it but reversible in any case) and run the wires from the HU to the amp.
Hopefully this might be useful to anybody else thinking about this (assuming it all goes to plan!!!!).
Lovely looking car!
Are you sure it is MOST? MOST was introduced for MY2003. Check the 10th digit of your VIN. 2=2002 3-2003.
No way was that satnav system fitted by Porsche, by the way.
There is a centre console delete kit, which might be of interest. Here's someone who fitted it to a TT:

Good spot. Must be very late 2002 - built after 1st Sept.
I'm not sure how they integrated that Alpine unit, but I suspect it is going to be a challenge!
I reckon they bypassed the whole lot, will be interesting to see how they patched the Alpine's speaker outputs into the Turbo's speaker cables.
Can you post a photo of the area to the front of the spare wheel, I'm wondering if the amp is still there?
Supposedly the Alpine unit is an approved Porsche fitment for non PCM cars (or it was at the time) and was fitted by an OPC. The wiring was a mess and is now all removed except for the GPS antenna and the phone mic/antenna. The Alpine is completely separate and was only Nav/DVD with everything else coming from the head unit (phone/CDC/radio, etc). The Alpine had it's own seperate speaker for the directions and playback. Quite a poor install and thats coming from a non electrictrickery person.
I ordered a GT3 Console Delete Kit from Carnewal and it should be here in a few days. The hard work is mostly done and hopefully the Becker will be fitted and just needing tha amp/kit plugged in by the time it arrives.
The car is definately MOST (end of Sept 02). The FO wires are there and I was a bit disappointed when I saw them to be honest but hey ho..
I'd previously fitted the Cascade in my BMW so I know it's a good unit and works well. The only downside is the scrolling for the iPod but you can't have everything perfect in such a small package.
Richard, thanks for the trim diagram. Appreciated.
