Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Morning all. The Cabrio is due some discs and pads very soon. Has anyone any experience of, or comments regarding, the ATEs supplied by Euro Car Parts at all? I've always regarded ATE as a 'premium' brand when it comes to brake components....my SAAB 9-5 Aero has ATE all round, and I've always found the braking impressive....better than OE actually. Pete

POST 2Original post

Pete, my 944 braking system is ATE fitted OE, including all the hydraulic components. I would think ATE are considered premium brand as you have made mention.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Nick. I had a BMW 700 Coupe many moons ago that had ATE all round....so they've been around a while! Actually, I've just priced up a package from Design 911 at £477 delivered, which includes discs, pads, bolts, shims and sensors all round....seems pretty good, just wondering what brand we're talking, so I'll be giving them a call shortly! How's work?! Pete

POST 4Original post

Pete, I had to change the clutch master cylinder on my 944 in the mid 1990's and I sourced the new cylinder from "German & Swedish" car parts, nearest shop was Clifton, Manchester. They supplied an ATE cylinder, £39 as I'm looking at the receipt now! At that time, Merlin was the nearest OPC on Sheepbridge, they wanted a 3 figure sum for the same.... I've not had to buy any brake components recently - I know Brembo seem to dominate the replacement disc market and Pagid for the pads. My 4S rear pads are Pagid (you can see the manufacturers stamp on the steel backing plate) and were fitted by Autostrasse.

POST 5Original post

Anything sold to do with braking in the UK now has to comply with B.S which I am told is quite strict. ATE as said are OEM on most German cars. I am quite certain 996 had Brembo discs & pads as OE

POST 6Original post

For the 996TT The OEM pads are Textar The discs are either Sebro or Zimmerman , both made in Germany Design 911 supplys Textar and Zimmerman. Eurocarparts sell Sebro I think both makes are of similar quality

POST 7Original post

They can also be Jurid, although I only had those on the rear of my 4S
