This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'loose screw' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'loose screw' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). For a squeaky pedal use White Lithium grease on the pedal hinge - instant cure.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Since all this chatter about clutches, I'm now getting nervous. Anyone had a clutch/RMS done lately, and any idea of cost? Would like to factor something in to the grand plan, slotted in behind my trip to Centre Gravity in August.
Thanks

RMS / Clutch replacement varies from £540 to £2000
Cheaper end = Normal Indy using a Sachs clutch and OE seal
Expensive end = Porsche dealer, OEM parts inc. a new flywheel
Lloyd,
Thanks for that, I have booked her in at my local indie for them to take a look next week. They quoted £600 for a clutch and RMS, so well within your scale.
Thanks

On an invoice from Hatfield for my car they charged c.£330 for the 'clutch kit' (parts only) and I believe RMS parts are c.£40 (both excl VAT). £600 sounds reasonable.
The Dual-Mass Flywheel can be the sting in this job, it should be spring loaded both anti-clockwise and clockise returning itself to a point which is fairly solid, it should also be free of Blue heat spots or grooves.
If it needs a flywheel the best thing to do is pick up a complete dual mass assy which comes as a clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and bearing from Euro Car Parts or Ebay
Infact, you can't beat doing the whole lot first time if you can afford it, the end result is ten-fold.

Squeaky Clutch Pedal
Just got back from the garage with a new clutch, all traces of the squeak from the pedal have vanished and it is oh so light!!!
All in all the posts which pointed to the deformation of the return spring seemed to be born out.
The clutch plate seemed to have some reasonable capacity left but the replacements lightness clearly explains the relationship betwen all the components in the chain.
Obviously the heaviness of the clutch was effecting the pedal return spring etc etc.
So all is now well.

porsche clutch
what was the price like? I had one done recently and it was £690 incl vat. Thought that was a bit much but it needed doing. It was also making sweaking noises.
They also had a look at the suspension - there is a slight noise coming from the front but couldn't find it. probably a loose screw.
clutch
Thanks thats good to know. Also, have a problem with a suspension rattle at the moment so getting it tested in August. Not sure if its a serious thing but it might be worth spending this rather than later
Got the work done at Portiacraft in north London, Mill Hill area. They are excellent, its where the car came from and I have stuck with them, they are very knowledgeable.
Hope this helps
